Talib\u2019s younger brother, former NFL star defensive back Aqib Talib, was reportedly at the game and witnessed the shooting, which was also caught on grim cellphone video.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect \u201cregrets the tragic loss of life but self-surrendered this morning so that he may have the chance to say his side of the story,\u201d his attorney, Clark Birdsall, told The Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Texas,<br \/>Brother of ex-NFL star Aqib Talib, shoots and kills football coach during a kids football game. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/MAMn2DIuzb\">pic.twitter.com\/MAMn2DIuzb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 1 Click News (@1ClickNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/1ClickNews\/status\/1559096005114892288?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/news\/local\/yaqub-talib-lancaster-football-shooting-man-wanted-in-killing-of-another-man-at-a-lancaster-youth-football-game-police-say\/287-146f7389-c53d-4f04-9b7b-7e976d01de85\">WFAA reported<\/a>\u00a0that the Talib brothers are coaches for the North Dallas United Bobcats, a youth football team. Hickmon coached the Dragon Elite Academy team, and his 9-year-old son is believed to have watched his father\u2019s murder at the Lancaster Community Park in Dallas County.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know how to explain it to the kids,\u201d said Dragons President Mike Freeman. \u201cThat\u2019s the part that I\u2019m stuck on right now. How do I explain it to them? Why? This is something that these kids will remember for the rest of their life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The game was called after supporters of the losing team threatened a referee. Cellphone video showed a man believed to be Talib confronting Hickmon as a melee breaks out on the field. At least five shots can be heard and then Hickmon is seen lying on the grass.<\/p>\n<p>Aqib Talib, 36, a five-time Pro Bowl cornerback over a 12-year career that included stints with Tampa Bay, New England, Denver, and the Los Angeles Raiders, confirmed through his lawyer that he was at the youth game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAqib was present when this unfortunate incident occurred and is very distraught and devastated over this terrible loss of life,\u201d his lawyer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2022\/08\/14\/nfl-aqib-talib-brother-yaqub-wanted-little-league-fatal-shooting\/\">told <\/a>TMZ. \u201cHe would like to convey his condolences to the family of the victim and to everyone who witnessed this unfortunate tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aqib Talib, who retired in 2020, is a commentator for Fox Sports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A retired NFL star\u2019s brother suspected of gunning down a youth football coach in Texas Saturday turned himself in after a two-day manhunt.
