Holland currently boasts more than 67 million Instagram followers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online and ultimately it\u2019s very detrimental to my mental state. So, I decided to take a step back and delete the app,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn\u2019t something we should be ashamed of.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Holland concluded by thanking fans for always being there for him. \u201cI love you all and I\u2019ll speak to you soon,\u201d he said. The video caption also promoted the UK-based teen mental health charity, Stem4.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Holland isn\u2019t the first big-name celebrity to ditch social media despite legions of devoted fans. During an interview with Good Morning America (GMA) earlier this year, former Disney Channel star Selena Gomez opened up about her decision to quit popular platforms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t been on the internet in four and a half years,\u201d the 29-year-old actress told GMA, as previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/happiest-ive-ever-been-selena-gomez-explains-why-ditching-social-media-for-4-5-years-made-her-feel-normal\">reported<\/a> by The Daily Wire. \u201cIt has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meghan Fox had similar statements on the potential harm caused by social media usage. \u201cI have social media, but I don\u2019t personally use it,\u201d Fox said in an April <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/megan-fox-says-she-thinks-social-media-is-sinister-and-evil-wont-use-it-personally\">interview<\/a> with Glamour UK. \u201cI have somebody who posts for me and I decide what I want to say. But I think it\u2019s sinister. I think it\u2019s evil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox described how social media has led to an explosion of online bullying, negatively impacting celebrities especially.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think people understand that we\u2019ve come to this place where we grasp, \u2018Bullying is bad,\u2019\u201d the actress continued. \u201cChildren shouldn\u2019t be bullied. It leads to self-hate. And eventually in some cases leads to suicide.
