Are there plans for President Biden to hold a solo press conference any time soon?\u201d asked CNN reporter\u00a0Kaitlan Collins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will hold a solo press conference,\u201d Psaki responded. \u201cBut I don\u2019t have a date for you at this point in time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis week?\u201d Collins pressed.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki answered, \u201cNot this week, no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The press seemed unsatisfied, as another reporter asked if Biden was going to pick which reporters he would answer questions from at his potential future solo presser.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill he get to pick the inquisitors himself?\u201d the reporter asked Psaki.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, typically, any president has a list of people that they\u2019re gonna call upon,\u201d she responded. \u201cBut usually it\u2019s a large number of people who are in the press room. And we certainly hope we\u2019ll be able to do that in a Covid-safe way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden was notably hit with backlash from conservative media during his 2020 presidential run for his lack of engagement with the press.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe former vice president spent much of 2020 hidden in the basement of his home away from the questions of the national press corps,\u201d a Washington Examiner piece complained of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2020\/aug\/6\/gaffe-prone-joe-biden-stays-in-basement-and-skips-\/\">Hidin\u2019 Biden<\/a>\u201d in August 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, during his tenure, did not shy away hitting back at the media. The adversarial relationship was often comically translated by the media as routine \u201cchilling attacks\u201d on a free speech.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, however, routinely made himself accessible to journalists. In fact, an opinion piece for The Washington Post, appropriately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2019\/01\/11\/president-trump-is-extremely-accessible\/\">titled<\/a>, \u201c<span data-qa=\"headline-opinion-text\">President Trump is extremely accessible,\u201d highlighted Trump\u2019s accessibility to the press.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to Martha Joynt Kumar, director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/whitehousetransitionproject.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">White House Transition Project<\/a> and emeritus professor at Towson University, Trump has racked up 338 \u2018short question-and-answer\u2019 sessions over his time in office, which hits the two-year mark on Jan. 20.,\u201d the Post piece said, which was published in January 2019. \u201cCompare that to 75 for President Barack Obama over his full first two years in office, and 243 for President George W.
