Because Trump has repeatedly asserted executive privilege in the Democrats\u2019 January 6th witchhunt investigation. Now, as a result of the FBI\u2019s raid,\u00a0the FBI has documents covered by attorney-client privilege and possibly executive privilege in their possession. Deal With It.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Many have suggested the Department of Justice wasn\u2019t really after classified documents at all. Trump insists the documents had already been declassified, and the DOJ already knew which documents were in the secured storage and had requested an additional lock be added to the door. \u201cThey could have had it anytime they wanted\u2014and that includes LONG ago. ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS ASK,\u201d Trump said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The revelation that the FBI took boxes of privileged documents supports the theory that the raid was a pretext for the FBI to get into the house in search of other information.\u00a0Former intelligence and federal law enforcement officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/aug\/11\/fbi-raid-mar-lago-about-nailing-trump-jan-6-riot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously speculated<\/a> that the\u00a0FBI cited missing National Archives material as an excuse to obtain the warrant needed to raid Mar-a-Lago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think they\u2019re that interested in classified information or the Presidential Records Act,\u201d Andrew C.
