Landlords, such as Tlaib, would not receive traditional rent from tenants but rather government reimbursement payments from taxpayers. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>The bill also sought to to increase affordable public housing by &#8220;creating an optional buyout fund to fully finance the purchase of private rental properties by non-profits, public housing authorities, cooperatives, community land trusts, and states or local governments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section data-v-f313b7e6=\"\">\n<p>On the bill&#8217;s second attempt, Tlaib tweeted, &#8220;HAPPENING NOW: I&#8217;m joining Rep. @Ilhan Omar and fellow colleagues for a press conference on the Rent &#038; Mortgage Cancellation Act.
