Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced Friday that she filed articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-merrick-garland\">Merrick Garland<\/a>, who said that he personally approved the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-fbi\">FBI<\/a>\u2019s search of former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s Mar-a-Lago estate.<\/p>\n<p>Greene\u2019s resolution states that Garland\u2019s personal approval to seek the warrant to search Trump\u2019s Palm Beach estate \u201cconstitutes a blatant attempt to persecute a political opponent\u201d of President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAttorney General Garland has failed to uphold his oath and has instead overseen a denigration of the principles of our democratic republic by politicizing the Department of Justice, and utilizing the Federal Bureau of Investigations as a Federal police force to punish or intimidate anyone who questions or opposes the current regime,\u201d the resolution reads.<\/p>\n<p>The articles of impeachment state that the attorney general \u201chas taken measures to silence the voice of millions of citizens of the United States by persecuting the former duly elected President of the United States, and potential Presidential candidate, Donald J. Marjorie Taylor Greene\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@RepMTG) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1558209056505987075?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 12, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Friday afternoon, Judge Bruce Reinhart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/22131385-trump-fbi-search-warrant\">unsealed the warrant<\/a>\u00a0authorizing the FBI\u2019s search of Mar-a-Lago after the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a motion the day before to unseal the documents. Trump supported their unsealing.<\/p>\n<p>The warrant revealed that Trump is under investigation for alleged violations of 18 USC 2071\u2014concealment, removal, or mutilation; 18 USC 793 of the Espionage Act\u2014gathering, transmitting, or losing defense information; and 18 USC 1519\u2014destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The warrant allowed FBI agents to target their search on \u201cthe \u201945 Office\u201d and all storage and \u201call other rooms or areas\u00a0within the premises used or available to be used by\u201d Trump and his staff \u201cin which boxes or documents could be stored, including<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
