Wade<\/a> due to their employers\u2019 perceived lackluster responses. The 1973 opinion \u2014 which purported that abortion is protected under the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution \u2014 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/united-states-supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-leaves-abortion-restrictions-to-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nixed<\/a>\u00a0in June through the court\u2019s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization.<\/p>\n<p>Young workers are particularly looking for a company that \u201cpublicly supports access to abortion\u201d and offers benefits accordingly. Among those in managerial positions, 43% of women and 40% of men are considering a job change, while 84% of women under 40 believe that the overturn of Roe v. Wade will \u201cnegatively impact women\u2019s ability to advance in the workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about policies employers could implement, respondents to the poll suggested that they \u201cincrease financial support for employees who need to travel out of state to get an abortion,\u201d \u201cprotect the privacy of employees who seek abortions,\u201d and cover abortion under the company\u2019s health care plan.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, beginning with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-supreme-court-strikes-down-roe-v-wade-decision-in-draft-of-majority-opinion-report-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leak<\/a> of Justice Samuel Alito\u2019s draft opinion on Dobbs v. Jackson in early May, several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/here-are-the-woke-businesses-vowing-to-cover-travel-costs-for-employees-abortion-tourism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">large corporations<\/a> began announcing that they would pay travel expenses for employees obtaining abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur company remains committed to removing barriers and providing comprehensive access to quality and affordable care for all of our employees, cast members and their families, including family planning and reproductive care, no matter where they live,\u201d executives from Disney said in a memo. The entertainment conglomerate employs 75,000 people in Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/desantis-bans-late-term-abortions-in-florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">signed<\/a> legislation banning abortions after 15 weeks gestation.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, DICK\u2019S Sporting Goods CEO Lauren Hobart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:6946126055220936705\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that the company is \u201cprepared to ensure that all of our teammates have consistent and safe access to the benefits we provide, regardless of the state in which they live.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Companies such as Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Levi Strauss, Amazon, and Apple offered similar policies. Yelp Chief Diversity Officer Miriam Warren recently told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/business\/2022\/06\/27\/companies-yelp-abortion-access-benefits-economy-yurkevich-dnt-nr-vpx.cnn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> that her company\u2019s policy has been a \u201cwonderful recruiting tool in terms of prospective employees saying, \u2018I want to work at a company that is out there and loud about what they believe in, and what they care about.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polls indicate that most Americans would prefer that abortion either be legal in most cases or illegal in most cases. Only 8% of the population believes that abortion should be illegal with no exceptions, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/religion\/2022\/05\/06\/americans-views-on-whether-and-in-what-circumstances-abortion-should-be-legal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pew Research Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Women and men belonging to racial minority groups are \u201cabout twice as likely as white women and men\u201d to consider switching jobs over companies\u2019 abortion policies, according to the Lean In survey. While 84% of Democrats and 77% of independents under the age of 40 are \u201cmore likely to work for a company that supports access to abortion,\u201d 63% of Republicans under 40 said the same \u2014 reflecting more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2022\/06\/17\/a-closer-look-at-republicans-who-favor-legal-abortion-and-democrats-who-oppose-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pew Research Center<\/a> data indicating that young Republicans are more likely than their older counterparts to support legal abortion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Young professionals want their employers to publicly voice support for abortion or help staff obtain them, according to a new poll.
