Andrew Cuomo filed suit Wednesday demanding New York State fund his legal defense against sexual misconduct allegations following his August resignation.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo\u2019s New York State Supreme State Court\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/nyscef\/ViewDocument?docIndex=QOL0oDqUcoZXWOQ8_PLUS_5q6cA==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lawsuit<\/a> challenges State Attorney General Letitia James for denying a him state-funded private counsel in April in the ongoing sexual harassment and unlawful discrimination lawsuit that a female former member of his security detail brought against him.\u00a0The former governor claims he has a right to such representation because his alleged misconduct toward the New York state trooper is said to have occurred as he operated as governor.<\/p>\n<p>Citing New York\u2019s Public Officers Law, the lawsuit says a state officer is \u201centitled to a defense in any civil action \u2018arising out of any alleged act or omission which occurred \u2026 while the employee was acting within the scope of his public employment or duties.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">The resignation followed<\/span> James unveiling an investigative report in August 2021 that found Cuomo sexually harassed more than ten different women, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/andrew-cuomo-resigns-17161f546bb83c32a337036ecf8d2a34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/andrew-cuomo-resigns-17161f546bb83c32a337036ecf8d2a34&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1660401167555000&#038;usg=AOvVaw3wHj8ZLjP2wjzihEsc6O-T\">The Associated Press<\/a>. Cuomo\u2019s lawsuit points out that James announced her own short-lived bid for governor in October, \u201cmere weeks\u201d after the report\u2019s release.<\/p>\n<div id=\"rev-more-content\">\n<p>\u201cAndrew Cuomo is trying to force New Yorkers to pay his legal bills because he believes sexual harassment was within his \u2018scope of employment\u2019 as governor,\u201d a spokesperson for the New York AG\u2019s office told the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cSexually harassing young women who work for you is not part of anyone\u2019s job description.
