Marco <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-rubio\">Rubio<\/a> (R-Fla.) plans to spotlight the regime\u2019s \u201csinister relationships\u201d with countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, the Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, as well as parts of the Middle East, where Beijing has made extensive investments to expand its political and economic clout.<\/p>\n<p>Focusing on one country at a time, the weekly installments will feature those that have \u201cstruck a bad deal with China,\u201d to \u201cexpose the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-ccp\">CCP<\/a>\u2019s intentions in the Global South and ensure that Beijing no longer controls the narrative,\u201d according to Rubio\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow is not the time to be silent,\u201d the senator told The Epoch Times in an email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to be vocal about what the Chinese Communist Party is doing,\u201d he said. \u201cBeijing is attempting to overpower, exploit, and hold hostage sovereign nations. The United States must stand up against Xi Jinping\u2019s authoritarian vision and hold the CCP accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the CCP strategically making social media its megaphone to attack the West and spread disinformation, the campaign aims to counter such efforts, according to Rubio\u2019s office. It will also \u201cfill a void\u201d in the U.S. government communications, which currently lack a coordinated way to alert countries of the \u201cmany pitfalls\u201d attached to Chinese investments, a spokesperson for Rubio\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n<p>The first \u201c#ExposingTheCCP\u201d tweet, shared with The Epoch Times ahead of its launch on Aug. 11, focuses on the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific which has recently signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/china-solomons-security-deal-paves-the-way-for-beijing-to-establish-foothold-in-indo-pacific-expert_4433587.html\">security pact<\/a> with Beijing that has sparked widespread concerns that it could pave the way for the establishment of a Chinese military base.<\/p>\n<p>New documents recently obtained<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chinese Communist Party has for years been bent on cementing its influence over the developing world.
