This confession nullifies reporting from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OrinKerr\/status\/1557464955602890753?s=20&#038;t=XRwwiPs43Z1jODns3xrKWA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newsweek<\/a> that claimed Garland was not associated with permitting the forced search and remained unaware of the specific date and time of the raid until after. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<p>Garland initially took responsibility for authorizing the raid but later refused to acknowledge that much of the nation\u2019s fault-finding is actually with him. <\/p>\n<p>Instead, in a short speech on Thursday afternoon, he berated Americans for daring to question the DOJ and the FBI\u2019s credibility. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/conventionofstates.com\/voters-say-federal-bureaucracy-too-big-focused-on-pushing-political-agenda-rather-than-serving-americans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than half<\/a> of U.S. voters say bureaucratic agencies such as the DOJ and FBI are too big and too focused on advancing a political agenda, Garland defensively claimed that \u201cattacks\u201d on his agents and prosecutors are \u201cunfounded\u201d and \u201cunfair.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMen and women of the FBI and the Justice Department are dedicated patriotic public servants. Every day, they protect the American people from violent crime, terrorism, and other threats to their safety while safeguarding our civil rights. They do so at great personal sacrifice and risk to themselves. I am honored to work alongside them,\u201d Garland said. <\/p>\n<p>Garland, who colluded with the National School Boards Association to target concerned parents at school board meetings and refused to prosecute threats against the U.S. Supreme Court justices and pro-life centers following the <em>Dobbs<\/em> decision, claimed that the DOJ under his watch \u201cis applying the law evenly without fear or favor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFaithful adherence to the rule of law is the bedrock principle of the Justice Department and of our democracy. Upholding the rule of law means applying the law evenly without fear or favor. Under my watch, that is precisely what the Justice Department is doing,\u201d Garland claimed.<\/p>\n<p>To do that, Garland said \u201cwork is by necessity conducted out of the public eye.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do that to protect the constitutional rights of all Americans and to protect the integrity of our investigations. Federal law, longstanding department rules, and our ethical obligations prevent me from providing further details as to the basis of the search at this time,\u201d Garland continued. <\/p>\n<p>In his minutes-long statement, Garland announced the Department of Justice\u2019s plans to unseal the search warrant and property receipt that led to the Trump raid, which lasted more than <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/09\/fbi-even-searched-melanias-wardrobe-in-trump-raid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nine hours.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Garland said the search warrant was authorized by a federal magistrate judge (who, incidentally, once left his job as a U.S. attorney because <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/09\/report-judge-who-signed-off-on-trump-raid-previously-represented-jeffrey-epsteins-pilots-and-secretary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein hired him<\/a> to represent his staff),  \u201cupon the required finding probable cause.\u201d The DOJ head, however, did not disclose what that probable cause was reported to be. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>Garland also claimed that \u201ccopies of both the warrant and the FBI property receipt were provided on the day of the search for the former president\u2019s counsel, who was on-site during the search.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>That strongly contradicts Eric Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11099205\/Eric-Trump-reveals-REALLY-happened-FBI-raid.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claim<\/a> that the FBI refused to give Trump\u2019s legal counsel a copy of the search warrant and instead \u201cshowed it to her from about 10 feet away.\u201d Eric also claimed that the FBI demanded Trump\u2019s staff shut off the property\u2019s security cameras which they refused to do. <\/p>\n<p>Keeping with his department\u2019s commitment to silence following the raid, Garland refused to answer any questions.<\/p>\n<p>The White House was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KellyO\/status\/1557795865032626178?s=20&#038;t=MqYQ4EgJU-iHPdBrS8WgtA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly unaware<\/a> of Garland\u2019s speech until shortly before it started.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
