A post shared on Facebook claims the disease may be connected to Pfizer\u2019s COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>The image appears to show two world maps, one from the World Health Organization (WHO) that shows where cases of monkeypox had been reported as of May and another that allegedly shows where the Pfizer vaccine had been distributed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Monkeypox\u2019 Is Only Circulating In Countries Where Pfizer Vaccine Has Been Distributed Think about that for a moment,\u201d reads part of the post. \u201cIt\u2019s being used to advance a Technocratic Great Reset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>The claim is incorrect. Check Your Fact could not find any <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=Monkeypox+Is+Only+Circulating+In+Countries+Where+Pfizer+Vaccine+Has+Been+Distributed&#038;source=lmns&#038;tbm=nws&#038;bih=722&#038;biw=1536&#038;hl=en&#038;sa=X&#038;ved=2ahUKEwi08MDburz5AhUiGVkFHa0qARcQ_AUoAXoECAEQAQ\"><span>credible news reports<\/span><\/a><span> to corroborate such a statement. A map available on the Pfizer website shows the countries where the company\u2019s COVID-19 vaccine has been distributed. Notably, it shows Russia, India and Venezuela as having not received the vaccine. Yet each of those countries has reported at least one case of monkeypox, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/poxvirus\/monkeypox\/response\/2022\/world-map.html\">map<\/a> on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWHO has not made any claims like this,\u201d said the WHO in an email to Check Your Fact.<span>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/08\/08\/fact-check-bbc-cdc-who-monkeypox\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did BBC News Share This Graphic About Monkeypox Being Airborne?)<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201c<\/span><span>Monkeypox is not one of the listed known side effects of Pfizer\u2019s COVID-19 vaccine,\u201d a Pfizer spokesperson said in an email to Check Your Fact. The spokesperson further explained that the company\u2019s <\/span><span>COVID-19 vaccine is synthetic and does not contain a live virus that could be transmitted between humans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time misinformation about monkeypox has spread on social media.
