In July, President Joe Biden\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/20\/military-pelosi-trip-taiwan-not-good-idea-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/20\/military-pelosi-trip-taiwan-not-good-idea-biden\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1660312180513000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2JE91N8m2UL8YwrQFSE4Jt\">said<\/a>\u00a0the military believed Pelosi\u2019s then-unconfirmed trip was \u201cnot a good idea\u201d as China\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/19\/china-forceful-response-pelosi-taiwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/19\/china-forceful-response-pelosi-taiwan\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1660312180513000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0smGZGJUlOo0QR42rN52_Q\">ramped up<\/a>\u00a0threats of a \u201cforceful\u201d response some feared could include military action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll I can say is that we are very proud of our military. Their preparation\u2026 actually I think minimized the impact of the Chinese on our trip,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?522277-1\/speaker-pelosi-not-china-isolate-taiwan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?522277-1\/speaker-pelosi-not-china-isolate-taiwan&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1660312180513000&#038;usg=AOvVaw04IuDOAHiFYhj4_wmjss24\">said<\/a> Pelosi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not address questions about our travels before our trip, so in keeping with that I won\u2019t comment on the comment the President made before our trip,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon told the Daily Caller News Foundation it had nothing to add on this issue, citing a longstanding practice of consulting with U.S. officials who are considering travel.<\/p>\n<p>China merely used Pelosi\u2019s trip as a \u201cpretext\u201d for escalating its campaign in pursuit of reunification with Taiwan, Pelosi argued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey took very good care of us. I don\u2019t remember them ever telling us not to go,\u201d Pelosi said, referencing the U.S. military.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the scenes, Pentagon and White House officials repeatedly communicated with Pelosi about the dangers of her trip, Politico\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/07\/22\/white-house-pelosi-taiwan-trip-00047304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/07\/22\/white-house-pelosi-taiwan-trip-00047304&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1660312180513000&#038;usg=AOvVaw3JV85BDntydxC5QgMNlMVs\">reported<\/a>\u00a0in July. At the time, Pelosi denied that she had heard anything from Biden of that nature.<\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/05\/pelosis-taiwan-navy-carrier-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/05\/pelosis-taiwan-navy-carrier-group\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1660312180513000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0IIiTo6VQrHCWa5Uteg_3F\">dispatched<\/a>\u00a0a U.S. Navy battle group to the Philippine Sea that encompasses Taiwan following reports it would\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/27\/us-military-prep-war-pelosi-taiwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/27\/us-military-prep-war-pelosi-taiwan\/&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1660312180513000&#038;usg=AOvVaw3FT8qbl_FYvPmE2-Tu4Dak\">provide<\/a>\u00a0surveillance, fighter jet escorts and maritime forces ahead of Pelosi\u2019s reported visit.
