(John Moore\/Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>In response to growing concern from parents and worries over Florida statutes\u2014more importantly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/m.flsenate.gov\/statutes\/847.012\">F.S. 547.012<\/a>, which deals with the distribution of obscenity to minors, a third-degree felony\u2014Heid formed a review committee to evaluate the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/floridacitizensalliance.org\/porn-in-schools-report\/\">questionable titles<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The district developed a process to\u00a0thoroughly examine each book where they were evaluated by educators, community stakeholders, mental health experts, parents, and high school students.<\/p>\n<p>The review committee\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/polkschoolsfl.com\/bookreview\">findings<\/a> were presented at a May school board meeting by the superintendent with his recommendations on how to handle parental concerns over the books being available to their children.<\/p>\n<p>The committee found that none of the books would be banned and only some of the titles were to be moved to the high school level.
