(AP Photo\/Evan Vucci)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 8:17 AM PT \u2013 Monday, February 22, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>According to Iran, the Biden administration\u2019s claim that the two countries are holding direct negotiations over the release of American hostages is \u201cnot true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This rebuttal came in a Sunday tweet posted by a spokesperson for the Fars News Agency, which is the semi-official news organization of the Ayatollah regime. The spokesperson said indirect communications have been relayed to the Islamic Republic through Switzerland, though no direct dialogue has been initiated.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2375870 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dzm0ugdauank9.cloudfront.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Screenshot_2021-02-22-%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%B1%DA%AF%D8%B2%D8%A7%D8%B1%DB%8C-%D9%81%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%B3-on-Twitter.png\" alt width=\"590\" height=\"543\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This follows an interview earlier Sunday in which U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan claimed the administration had already launched these negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have begun to communicate with the Iranians on this issue, yes, and we will continue to do so as we go forward,\u201d Sullivan stated. \u201cAnd our strong message to the Iranians will be that we will not accept a long-term proposition where they continue to hold Americans in an unjust and unlawful manner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At least five Americans are currently being held unlawfully in Iran.<\/p>\n<h4>MORE NEWS: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/rep-turner-says-bidens-iran-policies-threaten-mideast-peace\/\">Rep.
