(Photo credit should read SAUL LOEB\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>Daniel Baldwin \u2013OAN White House Correspondent<br \/>UPDATED 8:39 AM PT \u2013 Wednesday, August 10, 2022<\/h5>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump invoked his Fifth Amendment rights Wednesday morning, refusing to answer questions from New York Attorney General Letitia James at a deposition.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cUnder the advice of my counsel and for all of the above reasons, I declined to answer the questions under the rights and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution,\u201d Trump said in a statement on Truth Social.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>James scheduled the deposition to question the 45th president as part of a three-year civil lawsuit regarding the Trump Organization\u2019s business dealings, specifically whether the business improperly inflated the value of its assets.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cI did nothing wrong, which is why, after five years of looking, the Federal, State and local governments together with the Fake News Media have found nothing,\u201d said Trump.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump defended his decision to invoke the Fifth Amendment, arguing that prosecutors have \u201clost all moral and ethical bounds of decency.\u201d The 45th President launched into an attack on James\u2019 motives, claiming she campaigned on targeting Trump.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cAttorney General Letitia James openly campaigned on the policy of \u2018Get and Destroy Trump,\u2019\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cThis political attack on me, my family, and my great company is her despicable attempt to fulfill that cynical, and very corrupt promise.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWhat Letitia James has tried to do the last three years is a disgrace to the legal system, an affront to New York State taxpayers, and a violation of the solemn rights and protections afforded by the United States Constitution,\u201d Trump said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_2736323\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2736323\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2736323\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/282f21b54809cf7b.jpg\" alt=\"(Statement by Donald Trump via Truth Social)\" width=\"758\" height=\"1355\" \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2736323\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Statement by Donald Trump via Truth Social)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4>MORE NEWS:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/palm-beach-gop-chair-shocked-fbi-raided-trumps-mar-a-lago-home\/\">Palm Beach GOP Chair \u2018Shocked\u2019 FBI Raided Trump\u2019s Mar-A-Lago Home<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US President Donald Trump speaks during a retreat with Republican lawmakers at Camp David in Thurmont, Maryland, January 6, 2018.
