Trump\u2019s son Eric Trump stated that the raid was conducted to see whether his father possessed documents from his time in office.<\/p>\n<p>In its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/documents\/judicial-watch-motion-to-unseal-search-warrant-08332\/\">motion<\/a>, Judicial Watch said that it was investigating the \u201cpotential politicization\u201d of the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI, and whether these agencies were abusing their powers to \u201charass\u201d a likely future political opponent of President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Once the court allows the unsealing of the materials, Judicial Watch will be able to analyze it and make it available to the public, according to the organization. The government has provided \u201cno official explanation or information\u201d regarding the search.<\/p>\n<p>If the government needs to protect the identities of its confidential sources and witnesses, it may be addressed through \u201cappropriate redactions\u201d from the search warrant affidavit. The historical presumption of access to warrant materials \u201cvastly outweighs\u201d any government interest in keeping the materials under seal, the motion argues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden administration\u2019s raid on President Trump\u2019s home is an outrageous, reckless, and unprecedented abuse of power. And the American people have an urgent right to know how it happened and who is responsible,\u201d Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in an Aug. 9 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/judicial-watch-files-motion-to-unseal-fbi-search-warrant-used-to-raid-president-trumps-mar-a-lago-home\/\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> Unintended Political Consequences <\/p>\n<p>The raid on Trump\u2019s home is said to be related to the Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978, which established that all records of the president are owned by the public.
