Solas also said she asked about Critical Race Theory and was told that the school asks five-year-olds, \u201cWhat could have been done differently on the first Thanksgiving?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The school district later informed Solas that the public records she requested on the curriculum would cost $74,000, and she was <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/stay-at-home-mom-sued-by-nations-largest-teachers-union-after-investigating-crt\">sued<\/a>  by the nation\u2019s largest public-sector teachers union, the National Education Association.<\/p>\n<p>Solas said the district \u201coutright lied to parents\u201d and that\u00a0she \u201cdid everything I could to avoid a lawsuit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was almost nothing the committee didn\u2019t touch. And I wasn\u2019t allowed to see any of it,\u201d she told The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you treat parents like adversaries, they will respond like adversaries,\u201d Solas said. \u201cWhen schools don\u2019t listen to parents, they\u2019ll have to listen to lawsuits. With enough lawsuits brought by parents, public schools will learn that egregious abuses of power have real consequences. This is beyond a culture war now. It\u2019s a constitutional war. And that war will be won in the courtroom. Lawyer up, parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over the last two years, parents across the country have gone head to head with public school districts on a range of issues, sometimes giving school boards a piece of their mind at school board meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona also has an Open Meeting law, and the Scottsdale Unified School District allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/arizonadailyindependent.com\/2022\/06\/20\/arizona-attorney-general-sues-scottsdale-unified-for-open-meeting-law-violation\/\">violated<\/a> it recently when it\u00a0attempted to silence public comment during school board meetings, including about a proposed mask mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Even in liberal\u00a0Beverly Hills, California, parents\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/beverly-hills-parents-erupt-over-gender-identity-in-fifth-grade-sex-ed\">showed up<\/a> to their local school board meeting in May to express their shock and disappointment with the district\u2019s sex-ed classes for ten-year-olds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Rhode Island mom is suing her child\u2019s school district for barring parents from secret meetings.
