In response, the People\u2019s Republic of China announced military exercises near Taiwan, suspended cooperation with the U.S. on certain issues and sanctioned Pelosi, CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/08\/05\/china-halts-climate-military-ties-over-pelosi-taiwan-visit.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"rev-more-content\">\n<p>A video shared on Facebook claims to show a military exercise the Chinese conducted in response to Pelosi\u2019s visit.\u00a0The first part of the Facebook video shows flares being lit while rockets are fired in the background. The next part shows rockets being fired from an unknown source.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina live exercise shooting tour Taiwan. #BreakingNews #FINALHOURNEWS,\u201d reads the Aug. 2 post\u2019s caption. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/08\/03\/fact-check-china-pelosi-plane-taiwan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did China Threaten To Shoot Down Nancy Pelosi\u2019s Plane If She Visits Taiwan?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The footage is not recent, however. A reverse image search reveals the video is from 2020, not 2022. A longer version of it was originally shared to the Chinese social media website <a href=\"https:\/\/weibo.com\/5564927603\/JtHwJaMd0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Weibo<\/a> in November 2020. \u201cThe Taiwanese Matsu residents filmed a live-fire drill of the Taiwan Army (every year) a few days ago,\u201d reads a translation of part of the Weibo post\u2019s caption.<\/p>\n<p>Another version of the video was also shared on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/comasur999\/status\/1327129568621305856\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a> in November 2020 with a caption that likewise indicated it showed the Taiwanese military conducting a drill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cTaiwan shows off military defence drill amid tensions with mainland China,\u201d the video states.<\/p>\n<p>Matsu Daily <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kgiObxolOao&#038;t=208s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a> that Taiwan conducted military exercises in the region in November 2020.
