Ted Cruz, who ran a 2016 presidential campaign against Trump, also slammed the incident. Cruz tweeted that \u201cthis same DOJ\u201d ignored a host of other situations, including those involving Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FBI raiding Donald Trump is unprecedented,\u201d Cruz <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tedcruz\/status\/1556840953511550976?s=20&#038;t=_NmY-wb_aHLDx09qhmSbRQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">added<\/a>. \u201cIt is corrupt &#038; an abuse of power. Pompeo has, in recent months, sparked speculation regarding his 2024 plans, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2024-watch-potential-pompeo-presidential-run-trump\">suggesting<\/a> to Fox News in August that his decision won\u2019t depend on whether Trump decides to run.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExecuting a warrant against ex-POTUS is dangerous,\u201d Pompeo also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mikepompeo\/status\/1556831532735729664\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cThe apparent political weaponization of DOJ\/FBI is shameful. AG must explain why 250 yrs of practice was upended w\/ this raid. I served on Benghazi Com where we proved Hilliary possessed classified info. Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, reacted to the news by highlighting that Americans \u201c\u2018should\u2019 be able to trust their government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haley honed in on the DOJ and FBI\u2019s silence, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NikkiHaley\/status\/1556847840516722688\">tweeting<\/a> that \u201cif they won\u2019t comment, then Biden owes it to the American people to answer for his agencies.\u201d Should Biden fail to do so, Haley called on Congress to act.<\/p>\n<p>Former Vice President Mike Pence, another individual eyeing a presidential run, broke his silence late Tuesday morning. Pence appeared to side with Trump, although the two have <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/politics\/mike-pence-says-he-hasnt-spoken-to-donald-trump-for-nearly-a-year\/\">become<\/a> distant and are now viewed as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/trump-pence-2024-rivalry-arizona-1726721\">rivals<\/a>\u00a0as the midterm elections heat up.<\/p>\n<p>Pence, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mike_Pence\/status\/1557031914829135872\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> posted to Twitter, expressed \u201cdeep concern \u2026 over the unprecedented search of the personal residence of President Trump.\u201d He, too, called on the incident \u2013 which he described as having \u201cthe appearance of continued partisanship\u201d \u2013 to be addressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday\u2019s action undermines public confidence in our system of justice and Attorney General Garland must give a full accounting to the American people as to why this action was taken and he must do so immediately,\u201d Pence <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mike_Pence\/status\/1557031918050414592?s=20&#038;t=DqQxE6SyoNyuUEmsZ2V-kw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">After years where FBI agents were found to be acting on political motivation during our administration, the appearance of continued partisanship by the Justice Department must be addressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Mike Pence (@Mike_Pence) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mike_Pence\/status\/1557031916322390017?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 9, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Republican South Dakota Gov.
