She said this issue has been \u201clong simmering\u201d but was exacerbated by redistricting.<\/p>\n<p>Before 2016, \u201cfly-over country\u201d was written off as irrelevant by many candidates, but the election of President Donald Trump showed rural voters still have clout and can tip an election. If rural voters show up again in 2022, that could impact which way the election swings in any given state.<\/p>\n<p>According to Zoch, the second key trend to watch is the \u201cRed Wave\u201d question. Zoch said recent polling suggests GOP voters are more energized, but there\u2019s a question on if that will hold until November.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/collage-trump-biden-1.6-1200x696-1.jpg\"><\/a> Former President Donald Trump (L) and President Joe Biden in file photographs. (Getty Images) <\/p>\n<p>The third key trend to watch is the retiring of over 30 legislative leaders, which Zoch labeled \u201cNew Faces.\u201d Traditionally, incumbents have the advantage, but with so many people retiring, there\u2019s a question over who will fill the power vacuum: a Democrat or a Republican?<\/p>\n<p>The fourth key trend is \u201cIssue Overload.\u201d Zoch specified, \u201cUkraine, abortion, COVID, inflation, racial justice, economic concerns\u2026\u201d The sheer volume of significant issues and often the protests accompanying them have resulted in voters experiencing a sense of inability to keep up.
