Liz Cheney, is a partner at the same law firm representing President Joe Biden\u2019s scandal-ridden son, Hunter. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Daily Mail reached out to Hunter Biden\u2019s attorney for comment on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11084655\/VP-Joe-Biden-met-two-Chinese-energy-execs-West-Wing.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">story <\/a>unearthing new details to the extent the younger Biden leveraged the family name for lucrative overseas business ventures. In 2014, the paper reported, then-Vice President Biden met with a pair of Chinese energy executives connected to Hunter Biden\u2019s foreign business deals. <\/p>\n<p>An attorney named Christopher Clark, who is listed with the firm Latham &#038; Watkins as partner, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoshTBoswell\/status\/1555635690381012992?s=20&#038;t=T8FKurgjTa3R8xAeivJ2YA\">responded<\/a> to the Daily Mail\u2019s request for comment calling the reporter a \u201cparasite\u201d in an otherwise nonsensical email full of typos. <\/p>\n<p>The vice president\u2019s 2014 encounter with Chinese energy tycoons marks the fifteenth such meeting with businessmen tied to Hunter Biden\u2019s financial interests, and contradicts Biden\u2019s repeated claims of never discussing business with his son, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/08\/28\/biden-brother-business-2020-1476815\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">or with anyone else<\/a>.\u201d The first son is currently under federal investigation for money laundering and foreign lobbying. <\/p>\n<p>Perry is also listed as a partner with Lathan &#038; Watkins on the firm\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lw.com\/en\/people\/philipjperry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a> while his wife runs for re-election on an anti-Trump platform ahead of the Wyoming primary next week. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"7oQFswCDH0TUObgE8y\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Philip Perry (Liz Cheney\u2019s husband) is a partner at same firm that Hunter\u2019s lawyer is partner at. A poll <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/17\/cheney-trails-trump-endorsed-challenger-by-22-points-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sponsored<\/a> by the Casper-Star Tribune last month shows Hageman up by 22 points as Cheney tries to clinch a fourth term by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/23\/liz-cheney-is-begging-democrats-to-save-her-career-in-upcoming-wyoming-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appealing<\/a> to Democrats. Even if every Democrat in the state were to change their registration to back Cheney in the primary, however,  Cheney\u2019s Trump-backed opponent remains likely to prevail where Republicans outnumber Democrats more than 200,000 to 43,000.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, the New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/08\/07\/us\/politics\/liz-cheney-trump-republicans.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a> a profile of the race ahead of next week\u2019s contest chronicling Cheney\u2019s failing campaign. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe no longer provides advance notice about her Wyoming travel and, not welcome at most county and state Republican events, has turned her campaign into a series of invite-only House parties,\u201d the Times reported. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s more puzzling than her schedule is why Ms. Cheney, who has raised over $13 million, has not poured more money into the race, especially early on when she had an opportunity to define Ms. Hageman,\u201d the paper added. \u201cMs. Cheney had spent roughly half her war chest as of the start of July, spurring speculation that she was saving money for future efforts against Mr. Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Wyoming congresswoman likely to lose her seat in the next Congress has been laying the foundation for a presidential run in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I have to choose between maintaining a seat in the House of Representatives or protecting the constitutional republic and ensuring the American people know the truth about Donald Trump, I\u2019m going to choose the Constitution and the truth every single day,\u201d Cheney\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/07\/24\/liz-cheney-trump-jan-6-committee-democracy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0on CNN last month. <\/p>\n<p>In her interview with the New York Times this week, Cheney pledged to remain on her anti-Trump crusade, which now extends to \u201cTrumpism\u201d beyond the former president himself well after midterms. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAsked if the ranks of off-limits candidates included Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, whom many Republicans have latched onto as a Trump alternative, she said she \u2018would find it very difficult\u2019 to support Mr. DeSantis in a general election,\u201d the Times reported. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that Ron DeSantis has lined himself up almost entirely with Donald Trump, and I think that\u2019s very dangerous,\u201d Cheney told the paper. <\/p>\n<p>The Cheney family\u2019s interest in Hunter Biden avoiding prosecution, however, casts doubt that a Cheney administration would approve a special cousel investigation as <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/28\/former-ag-bill-barr-to-merrick-garland-appoint-a-special-counsel-already\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">demanded<\/a> by former Attorney General Bill Barr. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<p>\n  Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist.
