The drills were the largest exercises the Chinese regime has ever held in the Taiwan Strait.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 8, China announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/chinese-aircraft-warships-cross-median-line-in-military-drills-after-pelosi-visit_4645201.html\">new drills near Taiwan<\/a>, including sea assault and anti-submarine operations.<\/p>\n<p>After her visit to Taiwan, Pelosi stated that the United States will not allow China to isolate Taiwan.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsgw.com\/full-transcript-taiwanese-rep-to-the-u-s-bi-khim-hsiao-on-face-the-nation\/\">interview<\/a> with CBS News, Hsiao was asked about China \u201cflexing its diplomatic muscles\u201d due to Pelosi\u2019s visit, including canceling several agreements with the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf China is to evolve as a responsible stakeholder in the global community, it\u2019s really up to Beijing to decide if their rejuvenation, if China\u2019s rejuvenation, will evolve with international respect or with international condemnation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p> America\u2019s Perceived Weakness <\/p>\n<p>Hsiao also talked about China\u2019s \u201cintensifying threats\u201d toward Taiwan, not only on a military level but also via a \u201chybrid tool kit\u201d of cyber attacks, public disinformation, and economic coercion.<\/p>\n<p>Hsiao said she believes the Taiwan Relations Act has provided a strong foundation for the United States to defend Taiwan militarily against the Chinese regime, but she refused to state explicitly whether Taiwan has<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a recent interview for CBS News, Taiwan\u2019s representative to the United States Bi-khim Hsiao criticized China\u2019s response to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s visit to the island nation.
