First, girls are spending countless hours glued to their phones, but then\u2026 these young girls are actually developing new mental disorders.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, TikTok is giving girls mental problems.<\/p>\n<p>According to a new report from Christina Buttons at\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/teen-girls-mimic-tics-after-watching-tourettes-videos-on-tiktok\/\">The Post Millennial<\/a><\/em>, girls spending too much time on TikTok are developing their own \u201cfunctional neurological disorder[s]\u201d \u2014 even developing \u201cfunctional tics\u201d \u2014 as a result of the content they\u2019re watching on the app. This means that TikTok is successfully reshaping the behavior of young American girls.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Omar Danoun, a Henry Ford Health neurologist, explains that many young girls when watching someone with uncontrolled tics or behaviors \u2014 such as seizures \u2014 will themselves mimic that behavior as a coping mechanism to the tragedy they\u2019re persistently encountering.<\/p>\n<p>But I don\u2019t need to be a doctor to understand simple reality. I\u2019m a mother, and it\u2019s obvious to me that my son lives his best life when he isn\u2019t glued to his phone playing video games, scrolling through social media, or watching YouTube videos.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t we all know this on a natural level? Who among us is happier after having spent hours on our phones? The answer: nobody.<\/p>\n<p>But the government lockdowns exacerbated so much of the isolation that young teens already feel, limiting their opportunities to live great lives, and causing them to run to the online world as an escape. And now, it seems that TikTok is making it harder to break free from the virtual world.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s time we face the sobering reality that the internet is an addictive substance \u2014 albeit unregulated. Nobody will get arrested for spending too much time online. But even so, we must begin treating the internet with more caution, especially with the younger generations that were seemingly born already hooked into it like a terrible Matrix live-action role play.<\/p>\n<p>Obsessing over TikTok and social media \u2014 the likes, shares, and comments \u2014 is not how conservatives change the culture and win back America for traditional family values. We can\u2019t educate ourselves and those around us if we\u2019re glued to our phones in the solitude of our rooms watching mind-altering TikTok videos.<\/p>\n<p>We definitely won\u2019t change the culture if we\u2019re trading in our lives to Chinese spyware!<\/p>\n<p>Think twice about using TikTok\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/teen-girls-mimic-tics-after-watching-tourettes-videos-on-tiktok\/\">before it completely alters the way you behave<\/a>. Aside from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tpusa.com\/live\/fcc-commissioner-calls-for-removal-of-tiktok-on-apple-google-app-stores\">handing over all of your data to China<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 a government entirely at odds with your values as an American \u2014 you\u2019re handing over your very personality right from the confines of your home.<\/p>\n<p>According to Buttons\u2019 findings, doctors are even \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/teen-girls-mimic-tics-after-watching-tourettes-videos-on-tiktok\/\">recommending cognitive behavioral therapy<\/a>\u00a0for patients with TikTok-induced tics\u2026 especially once you know you are susceptible to a functional neurological disorder.\u201d\u00a0 I refuse to check myself or my son into therapy because of social media!<\/p>\n<p>But that means it\u2019s up to you and me to change our behavior and most importantly, put our phones down.<\/p>\n<p>Before you begin objecting, saying that this could\u00a0<em>never<\/em>\u00a0happen to you, or that you don\u2019t have an affinity for Tourette\u2019s Syndrome videos, consider the fact that staring at your phone doing\u00a0<em>anything<\/em>\u00a0for hours at a time is already a negative mind-altering behavior.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that this is the wake-up call many of us needed. Our phones are calling out to us, and the social media apps within them are doing damage. Life isn\u2019t lived on your phone. Take it from me, as someone who spends a lot of time spreading the conservative message through my online presence.
