Back in May the the Florida Department of Health\u2019s Office of Inspector General issued a report which found \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/hotair.com\/john-s-2\/2022\/05\/26\/ig-report-rebekah-jones-allegations-have-insufficient-evidence-or-were-unfounded-and-dont-make-much-sense-n472317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insufficient evidence<\/a>\u201d to support Jones\u2019 claims that she was asked to falsify COVID data on the state\u2019s dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>Jones has been trying to run for office in Florida\u2019s 1st congressional district. Her goal was to win the Democratic primary and then challenge Rep. Matt Gaetz for the seat. Unfortunately it looks like that may not happen now. Jones\u2019 opponent in the primary, Peggy Schiller, sued her alleging she wasn\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonville.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/08\/05\/rebekah-jones-disqualified-democrat-aug-23-primary-peggy-schiller-florida-first-congressional\/10234140002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eligible to run<\/a> under a Florida law which requires candidates to have been a part of the Party they seek to represent for at least a full year.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Schiller\u2019s\u00a0<a class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonville.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2022\/07\/19\/rebekah-jones-eligibility-peggy-schiller-files-lawsuit-florida-1st-congressional-district\/10085707002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\">lawsuit alleged<\/a>\u00a0that while living in Maryland in 2021, Jones registered to vote in the state in April 2021 as a Democrat. She then changed her party affiliation to \u201cunaffiliated\u201d on June 11, 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The documents show Jones changed her affiliation back to Democratic on Aug. 11, which would mean Jones missed the registration\u00a0requirement by about two\u00a0months.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Today a judge ruled that Jones <a href=\"https:\/\/weartv.com\/news\/local\/judge-disqualifies-rebekah-jones-from-running-for-florida-district-1-seat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was not eligible<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A judge ruled Friday afternoon that Florida District 1 candidate Rebekah Jones is not qualified to run in the 2022 election\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Much of attorneys\u2019 arguments revolved around a document saying Jones was registered as \u2018unaffiliated\u2019 in Maryland. Everyone agreed it\u2019s a legitimate document.<\/p>\n<p>Jones testified she did not file the document, saying someone else changed it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When she says someone else, Jones means an unidentified hacker. She and Joy Reid should get together and talk about being hacked by mysterious strangers. The judge ultimately didn\u2019t buy it, in part because Jones had initially filed to run as an Independent and then changed her mind. Those events seemed to match up with the dates of her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonville.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/08\/05\/rebekah-jones-disqualified-democrat-aug-23-primary-peggy-schiller-florida-first-congressional\/10234140002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">party affiliation changes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Jones\u00a0<a class=\"gnt_ar_b_a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonville.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2022\/02\/08\/rebekah-jones-says-she-can-win-northwest-florida-congressional-seat\/9253414002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-t-l=\":b|e|inline click|${u}\">filed to run for Congress<\/a>\u00a0with the Federal Elections Commission on June 25, 2021, as an independent candidate. She changed her candidacy to the Democratic Party with the FEC on Aug. 12, 2021,\u00a0a day after Jones\u2019\u00a0voter registration in Maryland was changed back to Democratic.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jones apparently wasn\u2019t happy about the judge\u2019s ruling and interrupted him to claim that she had proof she\u2019d been hacked. The judge didn\u2019t care for the interruption and kicked her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonville.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/08\/05\/rebekah-jones-disqualified-democrat-aug-23-primary-peggy-schiller-florida-first-congressional\/10234140002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">off the Zoom call<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cI don\u2019t think I can come to any conclusion other than Ms. Jones was not a registered member of the Democratic Party for almost two months during this (crucial) period,\u201d Cooper said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">As Cooper was explaining his ruling, Jones interrupted him by\u00a0saying she could provide documents proving she was hacked. The judge immediately kicked her out of the Zoom hearing, saying he didn\u2019t allow anyone to speak during a ruling, particularly a party in the case.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When the judge later let her return to the call, she apologized and claimed she hadn\u2019t realized her microphone wasn\u2019t muted.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I don\u2019t believe anything she says and I definitely don\u2019t believe her voter registration was hacked. Rebekah Jones has made outlandish claims before and a thorough investigation has revealed there was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/hotair.com\/john-s-2\/2022\/05\/26\/ig-report-rebekah-jones-allegations-have-insufficient-evidence-or-were-unfounded-and-dont-make-much-sense-n472317\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insufficient evidence<\/a>\u201d for all of those allegations. Jones says she\u2019s going to appeal the ruling but this is probably over for her. Her primary opponent said she was pleased <a href=\"https:\/\/weartv.com\/news\/local\/judge-disqualifies-rebekah-jones-from-running-for-florida-district-1-seat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by the decision<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I believe justice has been served. All congressional candidates must comply with the same set of rules to become a qualified candidate. Jones clearly did not follow the rules and in doing so violated her Candidate Oath. This decision is good news for the Democratic party as the Republicans would have brought Jones\u2019 voter registration violation to light had she become the nominee, leaving the Democratic party without a qualified candidate on the ballot in November.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As for the incumbent who Jones was hoping to take on this fall, he took a shot at both Democrats but concluded, \u201cit seems obvious that the Judge followed the law and that Rebekah Jones is a fraud in virtually all she does.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Team Gaetz doesn\u2019t celebrate voters being denied a choice. <\/p>\n<p>It seems small of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/peggyforFL1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@peggyforFL1<\/a> to seek Rebekah\u2019s defeat in court rather than during the primary. <\/p>\n<p>That said, it seems obvious that the Judge followed the law and that Rebekah Jones is a fraud in virtually all she does. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/F7ypQLkghT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/t.co\/F7ypQLkghT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Matt Gaetz (@mattgaetz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mattgaetz\/status\/1555668196690198529?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 5, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been a tough few months for Rebekah Jones.
