I\u2019d give back pay,\u201d Trump said. \u201cSo I would give them their back pay and I would let them back, and they understand that. They know it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back pay is \u201ca common remedy for wage violations\u201d where \u201cthe employer makes up the difference between what the employee was paid and the amount he or she should have been paid,\u201d according to the Department of Labor.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s comments came weeks after the U.S. army announced plans to cut more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/62000-unvaccinated-guards-reserve-soldiers-facing-loss-of-pay-as-army-prepares-to-enforce-vaccine-mandate_4591197.html?utm_source=newsnoe&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=breaking-2021-07-07-3&#038;mktids=48edc4b85098739c8e3ba20a13989ca3&#038;est=lK4hBbH14yWmkcKqZ36b7pW1pqaisH3BBSY5v95UNsB3nW%2FZQ7vQo7bidQ%3D%3D\">60,000 guards and reserve soldiers<\/a> for refusing COVID-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSoldiers who refuse the vaccination order without an approved or pending exemption request are subject to adverse administrative actions, including flags, bars to service, and official reprimands,\u201d a July 1 statement on the U.S. Army\u2019s website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/258107\/reserve_component_soldiers_must_now_be_vaccinated_to_participate_in_training_drill\">reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More than 19,000 U.S. Army personnel have refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine, as of July 14, 2022, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/258475\/army_announces_total_army_covid_19_vaccination_statistics\">U.S. Army data<\/a>.
