Vance.<\/p>\n<p>He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearmarkets.com\/articles\/2022\/06\/03\/jd_vances_common-good_conservatism_is_a_recipe_for_failure_835528.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> Republicans like Vance want conservatives to \u201cembrace \u2026 the use of government power to compel people to make the choices favored by whoever happens to hold political power at the moment.\u201d\u00a0\u201cVance\u2019s solution is for conservatives to use \u2018political power\u2019 to produce public goods,\u201d Sauer wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Missouri Sen. Trump\u2019s gains largely stemmed from his insistence that American businesses and workers be put before the global markets\u2013 including placing significant tariffs on foreign steel and other imports and getting American car manufacturers to build their cars in the U.S. instead of Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe U.S. is going to substantialy [sic] reduce taxes and regulations on businesses,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/4591500\/donald-trump-tariffs-congress-republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> Trump in December 2016. \u201cBut any business that leaves our country for another country, fires its employees, builds a new factory or plant in the other country, and then thinks it will sell its product back into the U.S. without retribution or consequence, is WRONG!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republican House Minority Leader California Rep. Kevin McCarthy told the Times in 2016 that he was not in favor of Trump\u2019s proposed 35% tax on American businesses that chose to manufacture their products overseas. \u201cI do not want a trade war. I do not believe in a trade war. I do not think trade wars are healthy. Ambassador and South Carolina governor Nikki Haley <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/opinion\/articles\/2020-02-28\/nikki-haley-says-the-free-market-isn-t-free-enough\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">praised<\/a> Reagan\u2019s economics and called the market under Trump not free enough, warning that common good conservatives \u2013like Trump, Hawley, and Vance\u2013 were practicing a \u201chyphenated\u201d version of capitalism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe energy and vitality unleashed by this kind of People\u2019s Capitalism\u2014free and open markets, robust competition, and broad-based ownership of the means of production \u2014 can serve this nation well,\u201d said Haley. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/14\/woke-capital-esg-gun-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED:\u00a0ANALYSIS: Woke Capital Has A Plan To Take Your Guns)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She argued that in a free market, \u201ca company that cheats its customers, mistreats its workers and abuses its community won\u2019t be around long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>J.D.
