Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) joined the Republicans effort to remove President Joe Biden\u2019s federal environmental regulations.<\/p>\n<p>In a 51-to-47-vote, the Senate passed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gao.gov\/legal\/other-legal-work\/congressional-review-act\">Congressional Review Act<\/a> with the intention of overturning a White House rule that was imposed in April. The rule required federal agencies to weigh climate and environmental impacts before issuing permits. The legislation was intended to speed up the processing of major projects.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R- W.Va.) asserted that the removal of the red tape would serve to revitalize an ailing US economy.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cAs we seek to improve our transportation\u2026 we claim our energy independence and build our domestic supply chains,\u201d stated Sen. Capito. \u201cInstead of making the environmental review process more efficient, the Biden administration has been doing everything in its power to make it much, much more difficult.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fantastic to see <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenDanSullivan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SenDanSullivan<\/a>\u2019s resolution to overturn <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@potus<\/a>\u2019 NEPA rule pass the Senate. <\/p>\n<p>However, near unanimous opposition from Senate Democrats makes it incredibly hard to believe strong permitting reform will be taken seriously next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Shelley Moore Capito (@SenCapito) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenCapito\/status\/1555277643200794625?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The bill will now head to the House where it will likely face harsh resistance from the Democrat majority.
