The move drew pushback from the CEOs of ExxonMobil and Chevron, who both accused Biden of taking an increasingly hostile approach to the industry.<\/p>\n<p>The Permian Basin accounts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.enverus.com\/dailyrigcount\/\">for 43 percent<\/a> of the nation\u2019s oil supply, meaning any federal regulation or rules may impact gas prices nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe flyovers will continue through August 15. By emphasizing identification of potential super-emitters, this effort builds on previous aerial surveillance efforts in the Permian Basin area starting in 2019,\u201d the EPA release said.<\/p>\n<p>Its announcement came days after an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/science-texas-trending-news-climate-and-environment-0eb6880f7c4532a845155a3bd44c2e4b\">Associated Press report<\/a> claimed that 533 gas and oil facilities in the Permian Basin are emitting what it described as excessive amounts of methane. But an EPA spokesperson told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/epa-announces-flights-to-look-for-methane-in-permian-basin\/2022\/08\/03\/21e0989a-136e-11ed-8482-06c1c84ce8f2_story.html\">Washington Post<\/a> this week that the flyovers are not connected to AP\u2019s article.<\/p>\n<p> Republican Criticism <\/p>\n<p>Republicans are poised to target the EPA\u2019s flyover announcement and blame the Biden administration for causing further pain at the pump.<\/p>\n<p>Several weeks ago, Texas Gov.
