Greg Abbott sent his first bus of migrants to New York City Friday after the city\u2019s Democratic mayor decried the idea of sending migrants to other states, according to a Friday press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of President Biden\u2019s continued refusal to acknowledge the crisis caused by his open border policies, the State of Texas has had to take unprecedented action to keep our communities safe,\u201d Abbott said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.texas.gov\/news\/post\/governor-abbott-announces-first-bus-of-migrants-arrives-in-new-york-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>. \u201cIn addition to Washington, D.C., New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city. I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Republican began busing <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/02\/exclusive-border-patrol-illegal-immigrant-rescues-record-high\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">migrants<\/a> to the nation\u2019s capital in April, in response to the Biden administration\u2019s decision to end Title 42, the public health order used to quickly expel certain migrants. Jennie Taer\/\/Daily Caller News Foundation<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Months into the effort, Democrat Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser and New York City Mayor Eric Adams <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/21\/eric-adams-govs-abbott-ducey-cowards-for-sending-migrants-to-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">criticized<\/a> the busing, saying city resources were overwhelmed. Adams called Abbott and Republican Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, who\u2019s also been busing migrants to Washington, \u201ccowards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time, no buses were going to New York City, but some of the migrants told the Daily Caller News Foundation they were making it their final destinations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were gonna go to New York, but the person is not responding to us, so now we want to go to Florida. We\u2019re seeing if people can help us because there are people that will receive us in Florida and give us work in order to get settled,\u201d one migrant departing the bus in Washington <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/04\/abbott-texas-migrants-dc-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told<\/a> the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>Adams said that he was in talks with the federal government to get extra support from agencies like the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and offered a message that the city is welcoming towards migrants.<\/p>\n<p>The influx of a few thousand migrants led Bowser to recently request the D.C. National Guard be deployed to help support the migrants.<\/p>\n<p>Over three million migrants have been encountered by authorities at the U.S.-Mexico border during President Joe Biden\u2019s tenure, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/southwest-land-border-encounters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
