Wade, which had legalized abortion nationwide since 1973, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_breakingnews\/supreme-court-has-decided-to-overturn-roe-v-wade-leaked-opinion-suggests_4441941.html\">leaked in May<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNight after night after night, these protesters committed federal crimes on national television. Why has the Justice Department refused to enforce 18 U.S.C. \u00a7 1507?\u201d Cruz questioned Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Polite Jr. during a Judiciary Committee hearing this Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He was referencing Section 1507 of the federal code, which makes it a federal crime to picket or parade near a judge\u2019s residence \u201cwith the intent of influencing\u201d a pending decision. Penalties for a breach include a fine and up to a year in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Polite responded to Cruz by pointing out that one person has been charged with a crime by the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Maryland after demonstrating outside the home of a Supreme Court justice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, one person?\u201d Cruz asked in reply.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo date, there has been one prosecution,\u201d Polite confirmed before the senator replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about the hundreds of others\u2014all of whom have violated the law,\u201d Cruz pushed further. \u201cThe law is very clear. Why does the Department of Justice pick and choose which laws to enforce, [and] which criminal laws to enforce? Why does it seem to exactly follow the pattern of the partisan preferences of the Biden White House?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>Polite responded by reiterating that \u201cpolitics shouldn\u2019t play and does not play any role\u201d in prosecutorial decisions. \u201cWhat I will also add is that our attorney general has increased the U.S. Marshal service resources to<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
