Some prognosticators posited that the result is a sign of Democratic momentum for the 2022 midterms, but there are only five other states with abortion referendums slated for November, and very few competitive races within them.<\/p>\n<p>Americans will head to the polls to decide the future of abortion in their state in California, Vermont, Montana, Kentucky and likely Michigan. None of those states are slated to have competitive Senate races, and there are only three House of Representatives seats currently held by Democrats that are classified as \u201ctoss-ups\u201d by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/house-race-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cook Political Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Polling has indicated for months that Republicans are virtually guaranteed to win back the House, with a strong chance to take the Senate as well, halting the Biden legislative agenda in its tracks for the remaining two years of the president\u2019s first term. Some Democrats viewed the Kansas result as a potential sign of a shift in the winds after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Reich <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RBReich\/status\/1554687045330644993\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a> that \u201cKansas is the start\u201d and issued a warning to anti-abortion politicians for November. Stacey Abrams, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Georgia, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/staceyabrams\/status\/1555004916745347072\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> that Georgians must turn out in November to save abortion after \u201cKansas showed us what\u2019s possible.\u201d Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/kansas-offers-abortion-playbook-democrats-ahead-november-midterms-2022-08-04\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published a piece<\/a> arguing that <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/02\/kansas-students-life-america-attack-teen-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kansas<\/a> offered the party an \u201cabortion playbook\u201d before November.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Yesterday, Kansas showed us what\u2019s possible when we come together to fight dangerous and cruel anti-abortion laws.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia \u2014 it\u2019s our turn now to show up in November and prove that we will stand up and fight for the right to choose in our state.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stacey Abrams (@staceyabrams) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/staceyabrams\/status\/1555004916745347072?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 4, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Kansas is the start. FiveThirtyEight <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/2022-election-forecast\/house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">currently projects<\/a> that Republicans will win a 27-seat majority, with Democrats dropping from 220 seats currently to just 204. There aren\u2019t nearly enough competitive seats in states where abortion is on the ballot to make up that difference. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/03\/jean-pierre-executive-order-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018We Follow The Law Here\u2019: Reporter Confronts Jean-Pierre On Biden\u2019s Executive Order Surrounding Abortion)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even expanding the classification of races from \u201ctoss-ups\u201d to those that \u201clean\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/03\/red-states-abortion-bans-challenged\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Republican<\/a> or Democratic doesn\u2019t get there. By that criteria, there are still only seven races where Democrats are defending a seat in an abortion referendum state \u2014 four in California, and three in Michigan.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Despite the overwhelming <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/KansasVoteNo?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#KansasVoteNo<\/a>, House and Senate Republicans still plan to introduce a National Abortion Ban if they win in November.
