The documents also contain training for facilitators of on-campus LGBT student organizations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the principles of queer theory, San Diego Unified has created a program of gender-identity instruction with the explicit goal of undermining the traditional conception of sex and promoting a new set of boutique sexual identities\u2026 that promise to disrupt the oppressive system of heteronormativity,\u201d Rufo wrote on his website.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/lausd-imposes-radical-gender-teacher-training-curriculum-materials-instructs-teachers-on-not-disclosing-students-gender-identity\">trainings<\/a> instruct teachers to use gender neutral language and encourage transgender and non-binary identity expression to \u201cdismantle \u2018heteronormativity\u2019 and break the \u2018gender binary,\u2019\u201d Rufo added.<\/p>\n<p>The first document obtained by Rufo is a \u201cfacilitator training\u201d presentation for establishing workshops for \u201cLGBTQ+ Youth &#038; Allies.\u201d In this training, which begins with participants stating their name, pronouns, and how they plan to use the curriculum, teachers are instructed in the basics of the gender binary and the social structures of \u201cheteronormativity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The presentation describes the gender binary as \u201ca social construct that situates \u2018male\u2019 and \u2018female\u2019 as synonymous with \u2018man\u2019 and \u2018woman\u2019 and dictates how people assigned to these categories should act. This limited system excludes and oppresses trans, nonbinary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming people,\u201d it says. The presentation also says that heterosexual and cisgender people benefit from privilege, the \u201c[s]ocietal assumption that all people are heterosexual and\/or cisgender.\u201d This alleged privilege benefits these people, often unbeknownst to them, and confers institutional power on them.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation then goes on to instruct facilitators in how to conduct these workshops. The workshops are intended to be conducted as part of a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) or LGBTQ+ club, or as an additional lesson to the district\u2019s required sexual health curriculum. The lessons include \u201cLoving Your Body,\u201d about body image within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/lgbtq\">LBGTQ<\/a> community; and \u201cHealthy Relationships,\u201d which focuses on consent and sexual activity among LGBTQ people.<\/p>\n<p>In another training on sexual health instruction, created in partnership with Planned Parenthood, teachers are instructed to distinguish between sex and gender, and that sexuality is a mix between gender identity, behavior, and sexual orientation\/attraction.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation includes a section on sexual anatomy. The training says that knowledge of the sexual anatomy is important for the discussion of sexuality, and for STI and pregnancy prevention, but it encourages participants to \u201c[u]se inclusive language as much as possible when referring to body parts.\u201d The male anatomy is referred to as the anatomy of \u201cpeople with a penis,\u201d and the female as that of \u201cpeople with a vulva.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Teachers are then instructed in ways to answer difficult questions on sexual topics, including: \u201cIs it okay to masturbate?\u201d; \u201cWhat does semen taste like?\u201d; \u201cHow do gay people have sex?\u201d; and \u201cWhat is porn?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rufo also obtained a lesson plan for high school students, entitled \u201cUnderstanding Gender.\u201d In the plan, students are asked to construct \u201cgender scripts\u201d that people of both sexes and transgender people are expected to follow.<\/p>\n<p>Students are then instructed to watch an episode of the reality show \u201cI Am Jazz\u201d about transgender teen Jazz Jennings. Students are also instructed to identify transgender people by looking at photos, which include a man wearing lipstick, several women in suits and with short haircuts, a woman with a beard, several young boys and grown men in dresses, female welders, a female soldier, a boy in a tiara, and a baby with a gender-neutral name.<\/p>\n<p>Other documents obtained by Rufo included a flyer called \u201cUnderstanding Non-binary Identities,\u201d which contends that \u201cNonbinary people are not confused about their gender identity or following a new fad,\u201d and another flyer about the word \u201cLatinx,\u201d which is described as \u201cpart of a \u2018linguistic revolution\u2019 that aims to move beyond gender binaries and is inclusive of the intersecting identities of Latin American descendants.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>San Diego Unified School District is instructing teachers to \u201cdismantle \u2018heteronormativity\u2019 and break the \u2018gender binary\u2019\u201d in their classrooms, according to newly revealed training documents.
