The move will accelerate federal permitting for the development of crucial future energy, mining, and infrastructure projects. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/08\/03\/joe-manchin-permitting-reform-inflation-reduction-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: \u2018They Will Never Do It\u2019: Here\u2019s How Manchin\u2019s Payout In Dem Bill Can Be Easily Tossed)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The vote will return the NEPA process to the 2020 Trump-era <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pillsburylaw.com\/en\/news-and-insights\/trump-administration-finalizes-updates-nepa-regulations.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">provisions<\/a> that curtailed regulations, making sure that fossil fuel projects were only studied for their individual environmental impact and not for the eventual effects of the energy that would be produced by the infrastructure, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/FR-2020-07-16\/pdf\/2020-15179.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to documents. Dan Sullivan of Alaska originally proposed the vote that will also prevent the <a href=\"https:\/\/regulatorystudies.columbian.gwu.edu\/congressional-review-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reissuing<\/a> of a similar rule in the future unless Congress authorizes it.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans unanimously voted to overturn Biden\u2019s permitting regulations, while Manchin was the only Democrat to support the move.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, as well as Democratic Sens. Patrick Leahy of Vermont and Jeff Merkley of Oregon, were absent from the vote.<\/p>\n<p>The vote comes after President Joe Biden and Sen.
