Gavin Newsom said Wednesday in an ad that Hollywood needs to \u201cwalk the walk\u201d by pulling production out of Republican states.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/24\/gavin-newsom-california-gun-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsom<\/a> released the ad Wednesday while also endorsing a proposal to provide $1.65 billion and a five-year extension of the state\u2019s film and television production tax credit program, The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/08\/03\/us\/newsom-hollywood-abortion-states.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor 100 years, we\u2019ve been the home for storytelling and storytellers,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FZPrrgOUUAEev4c.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ad reads<\/a>. \u201cTogether, we built a creative community that includes unrivaled casts, crews, craftspeople, infrastructure and technology. Robust tax credits and other incentives. The best culture. Most importantly, we share your values. So now, it\u2019s time to choose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ad then attacks Republican-led states like Georgia and Oklahoma, which Newsom alleges have \u201cwaged a cruel assault on essential rights.\u201d Newsom claims the states have attacked \u201creproductive freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday more than ever, you have a responsibility to take stock of your values \u2013 and those of your employees \u2013 when doing business in those states,\u201d the ad continues. \u201cCalifornia is a freedom state: Freedom to tell your stories. Freedom to access the health services you need, including abortion care. Freedom to love who you love and to ensure that your LGBTQ friends, family and colleagues can proudly be who they are. The workers were considered essential. <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/07\/15\/gavin-newsom-george-gascon-elex-michaelson-interview-crime-los-angeles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Newsom<\/a> also saw widespread financial support from some of Hollywood\u2019s top executives amid his recall challenge. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings donated $3 million to the political action committee defending Newsom while the Entertainment Software Association donated $50,000, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/politics\/hollywood-mobilizes-to-protect-gavin-newsom-amid-recall-reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox Busines<\/a>s reported. Paramount Pictures reportedly gave $40,000 and Motion Picture Association threw in $10,000.<\/p>\n<p>Other donors included director Steven Spielberg and Barbra Streisand, according to Fox Business.<\/p>\n<p>Hollywood doesn\u2019t just cozy up to Newsom, however. CNN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/08\/cnns-jake-tapper-takes-blowtorch-hollywoods-relationship-communist-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Tapper criticized<\/a> Hollywood\u2019s relationship with China back in February, calling out studios\u2019 willingness to accept Chinese censorship of their movies. Some American companies will edit their movies to appease China\u2019s communist government out of fear they will lose access to China\u2019s film market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic California Gov.
