Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) on Aug. 3 walked back earlier comments she had made about President Joe Biden, but suggested that she still thinks he won\u2019t run again in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t believe he\u2019s running for reelection,\u201d Maloney, who leads the House Oversight Committee, said during an Aug. 2 primary debate.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, she walked back her comment\u2019s implied criticism of Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therecount\/status\/1555153923702398978\">during an appearance on CNN<\/a>, but refused to recant on her suggestion that the president will not seek reelection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. President, I apologize,\u201d Maloney said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want you to run,\u201d she insisted. \u201cI happen to think you won\u2019t be running, but when you run\u2014or if you run\u2014I will be there 100 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have deserved it,\u201d Maloney added. \u201cYou are a great president and thank you for everything you\u2019ve done for my state and all the states and all the cities in America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, presidents have not announced their intention to seek reelection until after the midterms.<\/p>\n<p>But Biden has indicated repeatedly that he intends to run again, to the chagrin of a growing number of Democrat voters and lawmakers alike, who increasingly see Biden as more of a liability than an asset.<\/p>\n<p> Other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-democrats\">Democrats<\/a> Also Ambiguous, Critical on Biden Reelection Bid <\/p>\n<p>Though Biden has made his intention to seek reelection clear, Maloney is not the only Democrat who has been on the fence about whether Biden will, in fact, be the Democrats\u2019 standard-bearer in the next presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>During the same primary debate on Aug. 2, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), when asked whether Biden should seek reelection, replied that it is \u201ctoo early to say,\u201d and suggested that Democrats should discuss it following the midterms.<\/p>\n<p>Sen.
