Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) was traveling in crossed the center line of the road and caused Wednesday\u2019s crash \u201cfor reasons that are unknown at this time,\u201d local authorites said, reversing a statement made a day prior about the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Initially on Wednesday,\u00a0the Elkhart County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-sheriff\">Sheriff<\/a>\u2019s Office said that it was the other vehicle driven by Edith Schmucker that had crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the SUV occupied by Walorski, Emma Thomson, Zachery Potts. Sheriff\u2019s officials said Potts, 27, was driving.<\/p>\n<p>But in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ecsonews\/posts\/pfbid02cM5mxBi16ZxpZvwSaTXk4LrhnptryrEhguMXj67mZNCEswx7raz48yigcSyWz67xl\">update Thursday<\/a>, the\u00a0Elkhart County Sheriff\u2019s Office said it \u201cobtained updated information\u201d regarding the crash and said that previous information it provided \u201cas to the direction of travel of the vehicles was not correct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe continuing investigation has located eyewitness and video evidence,\u201d sheriff\u2019s officials\u00a0added. \u201cBoth confirm that the maroon Buick LeSabre driven by Edith Schmucker, 56, Nappanee, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-indiana\">Indiana<\/a>, was southbound on SR 19 south of SR 119 and the silver Toyota RAV 4, driven by Zachery Potts, 27, Mishawaka, Indiana, was northbound on SR 19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The RAV 4 with Walorski, Potts, and Thomson \u201ccrossed the centerline for reasons that are unknown at this time\u201d before the two cars crashed, according to the office. \u201cAll occupants of both vehicles were confirmed to have been wearing seatbelts and airbags did deploy,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>Interviews of witnesses and evidence collection is still ongoing at the scene of the crash, sheriff\u2019s officials said. Anyone with information or anyone who witnessed the accident is being asked to contact the Elkhart County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/p>\n<p> More Details <\/p>\n<p>Other than Walorski, Schmucker, Potts, and Thomson were all pronounced dead following the crash.
