Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.).<\/p>\n<p>Fitzpatrick made the comment in support of the grassroots Tuidang (Quit the Party) movement that calls for the global Chinese community to break ties with China\u2019s communist regime.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/400-million-cut-their-ties-the-ccp-in-defiance-of-communist-control_4641067.html\">More than 400 million people<\/a> have asked to withdraw their affiliations with one or all three Party organizations as of Aug. 3, according to statistics from the New York-based Global Tuidang Center, which helps to coordinate the movement.<\/p>\n<p>Collectively, their decision has demonstrated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-chinese-communist-party\">Chinese Communist Party<\/a> (CCP) can\u2019t represent its population\u2014despite its claims to the contrary\u2014according to the congressman, who has sponsored a number of bills aimed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/2329\">deterring the regime\u2019s influence<\/a> in the United States and its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/house-bill\/6319\">human rights abuses.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs America confronts the national security and economic threats from an increasingly belligerent CCP, we must never conflate the Chinese people with the Communist Party. This is exactly what the CCP tries to do in its party propaganda,\u201d he told The Epoch Times, adding that he supports the Tuidang movement and \u201cthe growing number of Chinese who are pursuing a future free from communism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Tuidang movement began in 2004 following the publication of the book \u201cNine Commentaries of the Communist Party.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/nine-commentaries-on-the-communist-party-introduction_3942.html\">First published<\/a> in the Chinese-language edition of The Epoch Times, the book expounds on the regime\u2019s history of deceit and terror.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2022\/08\/03\/GettyImages-1325104795.jpg\"><\/a> Former Virginia governor and Sen.
