The new policy also makes additional penalties available against people dealing drugs within 1,000 feet of a school and allows San Francisco prosecutors to ask the court for pre-trial detention in \u201cextreme\u201d fentanyl dealing cases, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe previous administration\u2019s policy had no weight limit threshold, was not adhering to CJC [Community Justice Center]\u00a0guidelines, and allowed drug dealers, arrested with as much as 500 grams of fentanyl and who had multiple open fentanyl cases, to be referred to CJC,\u201d the DA\u2019s office stated in the release.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The drug overdose crisis is at an all-time high &#038; our criminal justice system requires change to tackle the problem head-on.<\/p>\n<p>I promised San Francisco residents I would work from day one to end open air drug markets &#038; restore public safety.<\/p>\n<p>These changes will do just that.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brooke Jenkins \u8b1d\u5b89\u5b9c (@BrookeJenkinsSF) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BrookeJenkinsSF\/status\/1554891703818940416?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 3, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Jenkins\u2019s office announced it has revoked over 30 open plea offers made <strong>by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/crime-and-justice\/commentary\/meet-chesa-boudin-the-rogue-prosecutor-wreaking-havoc-san-francisco\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Soros-funded<\/a> Boudin<\/strong>, who was ousted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/08\/chesa-boudin-recalled-san-francisco-election-district-attorney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recall campaign<\/a>\u00a0in June\u00a0as a rebuke of his progressive policies.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/08\/chesa-boudin-recalled-san-francisco-election-district-attorney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED:\u00a0Embattled Left-Wing Prosecutor Chesa Boudin Recalled In San Francisco Election)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>His administration\u00a0did not convict a single person for dealing fentanyl in 2021 and only obtained three drug-dealing convictions during the same time, <a href=\"https:\/\/sfstandard.com\/criminal-justice\/da-chesa-boudin-fentanyl-court-data-drug-dealing-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to The San Francisco Standard.<\/p>\n<p>Boudin\u2019s office offered one defendant a single misdemeanor to settle six open cases for dealing drugs, including one where the person was arrested with over 100 grams of fentanyl, the news release stated.<\/p>\n<p>Jenkins\u2019s office said the same defendant had been referred to CJC over five times by Boudin\u2019s office \u201cdespite failing to complete any of the CJC mandated requirements and violating the terms of a stay away order\u201d from the place police arrested him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince 2020, nearly 1,500 people have died of drug overdose in part because dealers have been allowed to operate with impunity,\u201d Jenkins said in the release. \u201cThe lethality of fentanyl presents a different challenge, and we must immediately change course, so we can save lives and hold people accountable for the havoc they are wreaking in our communities.
