Ted Cruz grilled the Assistant Attorney General of the Department of Justice\u2019s (DOJ) Criminal Division, Kenneth Polite, over the handling of pro-abortion attacks during a Wednesday Senate hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz expressed concerns that the DOJ is \u201cpoliticizing the enforcement of justice\u201d following their handling of the vandalisms and fire bombings on pro-life crisis pregnancy centers across the country. He said there have been at least 82 attacks against pro-life institutions as of July 27, where they have been covered in red paint, graffiti and egged by \u201cpro-abortion radicals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite these attacks, the DOJ established a \u201cReproductive Rights Task Force\u201d on July 12, Cruz said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have zero doubt that if pro-life supporters were vandalizing and firebombing abortion clinics across the country, DOJ would declare it a national emergency, and you might as well send out the National Guard,\u201d Cruz said. \u201cBut because your politics and the politics of the agency you work with happen to agree with the vandals, there has been no task force, there has been no priority. Why is that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, respectfully, I believe we agree that politics cannot and should not play any role in the investigative or prosecutorial decisions of the Department of Justice,\u201d Polite said. \u201cWe take very seriously any incidents of violence that occur within this country. I can tell you that those incidents that you\u2019re reflecting upon, if they are ultimately being considered by the Department of Justice, they will be taken\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHold on a second, if they\u2019re being considered? You don\u2019t know sitting here today if they\u2019re being considered?\u201d the senator interjected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, a number of these incidents are priorities not only of the criminal division, but of the civil division, as well as our civil rights division,\u201d Polite responded.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz then asked if any cases have been brought to the DOJ regarding these attacks, to which Polite declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p>After Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/02\/supreme-court-roe-v-wade-samuel-alito-politico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">obtained<\/a> a leaked draft majority opinion slated to overturn Roe v. Wade, pro-abortion activists targeted pregnancy centers by spray painting phrases such as, \u201cIf Abortion Isn\u2019t Safe, You Aren\u2019t Either,\u201d shattering its windows and even firebombing the buildings. The Capitol Hill Crisis Pregnancy Center in Washington, D.C., was <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/03\/dc-crisis-pregnancy-center-reportedly-vandalized-janes-revenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">covered in red paint<\/a> with the words \u201cJane Says Revenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Police\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/27\/police-arrest-ten-people-disorderly-conduct-eugene-oregon-pregnancy-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">arrested<\/a> 10 pro-abortion protesters for allegedly throwing smoke bombs at an Oregon pregnancy center June 27. The activist group Jane\u2019s Revenge allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/08\/abortion-firebomb-pro-life-attacks-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">firebombed<\/a> a crisis pregnancy center in Amherst, New York, overnight on June 7, while arsonists attacked Wisconsin Family Action in Madison. The Oregon Right to Life offices in Keizer, Oregon, were also firebombed with Molotov cocktails.<\/p>\n<p>The senator went on to press Polite on the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/11\/police-stand-guard-activists-march-kavanaughs-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protests<\/a> in front of the homes of the six conservative Supreme Court justices, and called these demonstrations \u201cinherently threatening.\u201d He also pinned the rhetoric of a handful of Democratic members of Congress for the June 8 <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/msnbc-barely-covers-kavanaugh-cries-mob-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">assassination attempt<\/a> of Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz also questioned why the DOJ had not upheld 18 U.S.C <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/1507\">\u00a7 1507,<\/a> which prohibits private citizens from attempting to influence a court decision by organizing \u201cpickets or parades near or in a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such a judge, juror, witness or court officer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNight, after night, after night, these protesters committed federal crimes on national television. Why has the Department of Justice refused to enforce 18 U.S.C.\u00a0\u00a7 1507?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, very recently, the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Maryland, in fact, has prosecuted a defendant for unlawful conduct in front of the home of one of our Supreme Court justices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo one person?\u201d Cruz asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo date, there has been one prosecution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz accused the DOJ of following the \u201cpartisan pattern\u201d of President Joe Biden\u2019s administration by prosecuting a single protester at the justices\u2019 homes. Polite said he does not believe the prosecution was related to any violation of 18 U.S.C. \u00a7 1507, but rather their conduct.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I think you need to follow the law,\u201d Cruz concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Texas Sen.
