Wade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s Executive Order builds on the first Executive Order that I signed last month to safeguard access to \u2026 abortion care,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS\/status\/1554894823869612036?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1554894823869612036%7Ctwgr%5Eda2deffed0a6d472fd1557a719d758c96ada3ad0%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newsweek.com%2Fkansas-abortion-news-live-updates-1730497\">wrote<\/a> on Twitter.\u00a0\u201cI told you I wouldn\u2019t back down. That hasn\u2019t changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s executive order directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to \u201cconsider action to advance access\u201d to abortion services, including via\u00a0Medicaid for women who travel out of state to obtain one, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/08\/03\/fact-sheet-president-biden-issues-executive-order-at-the-first-meeting-of-the-task-force-on-reproductive-healthcare-access-2\/\">according<\/a> to the White Hose.<\/p>\n<p>The order also asks HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to consider \u201call appropriate actions\u201d to ensure that health providers follow federal laws so people can\u00a0\u201creceive medically necessary care without delay,\u201d referring to abortions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese actions could include providing technical assistance for health care providers who may be confused or unsure of their obligations in the aftermath of the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs; convening providers to convey information on their obligations and the potential consequences of non-compliance; and issuing additional guidance or taking other appropriate action in response to any complaints or reports of non-compliance with federal non-discrimination laws,\u201d the White House statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The president signed the executive order while in isolation after his doctor said Wednesday that he again tested positive for COVID-19 in the morning.<\/p>\n<p> More Actions <\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s executive order comes just a day after the Department of Justice (DOJ) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-sues-idaho-protect-reproductive-rights\">filed<\/a> a lawsuit targeting an Idaho law that bans most abortions.
