Carney allowed Visa to remain a defendant in a lawsuit charging the company with conspiracy in circulating child sexual abuse materials July 29, according to court materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Rape and child abuse survivors and victims of porn revenge are suing MindGeek, the company that runs <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/12\/21\/pornhub-sasse-hawley-reform-xvideos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PornHub<\/a>, for allegedly circulating child sex abuse materials,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/pershingsquarefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/031138281455.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a><span>\u00a0to the lawsuit. Carney suggested that Visa holds some responsibility for knowingly profiting off of child pornography.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Visa is one of MindGeek\u2019s payment processors and, according to Carney, was responsible for facilitating MindGeek\u2019s business, including the monetization of child pornography.<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cVisa lent to MindGeek a much-needed tool \u2014 its payment network \u2014 with the alleged knowledge that there was a wealth of monetized child porn on MindGeek\u2019s websites,\u201d Carney <a href=\"https:\/\/pershingsquarefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/031138281455.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">On Friday, a US District Judge found Visa complicit in the monetization of child porn on Pornhub. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/or1u6YKcAF\">pic.twitter.com\/or1u6YKcAF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael Austin (@mikeswriting) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mikeswriting\/status\/1554519389059223552?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 2, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The individuals who posted the videos were responsible for the harm done, not the company itself, Visa said, according to The Washington Post. Visa also condemned child exploitation and said it doesn\u2019t tolerate the use of its network for illegal activities in a comment to the Daily Caller News Foundation. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/18\/pornhub-lawsuit-non-consensual-sex-rape-videos-mindgeek-criminal-enterprise-brown-rudnick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: <\/a><\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/06\/18\/pornhub-lawsuit-non-consensual-sex-rape-videos-mindgeek-criminal-enterprise-brown-rudnick\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dozens Of Women Sue Pornhub After It Allegedly Posted Non-Consensual Sex Videos)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>MindGeek\u2019s merchant privileges were suspended by Visa after a 2020 New York Times report<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/12\/04\/opinion\/sunday\/pornhub-rape-trafficking.html\"><span>revealed<\/span><\/a><span> that its website, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/19\/pornhub-mindgeek-department-of-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PornHub<\/a>, was hosting thousands of videos of rape and sexual exploitation. <\/span><span>Visa ultimately restored services to MindGeek for paid advertising on all of its websites, according to the lawsuit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cVisa likes to pretend they\u2019re in a different universe,\u201d Michael Bowe, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs told The Washington Post. \u201cOur claim alleges they were co-conspirators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A MindGeek spokesman emphasized that the case has not been tried yet and that this is not a ruling on the merit of the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the court can actually consider the facts, we are confident the plaintiff\u2019s claims will be dismissed for lack of merit,\u201d he said. \u201cMindGeek has zero tolerance for the posting of illegal content on its platforms, and has instituted the most comprehensive safeguards in user-generated platform history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
