The committee elects progressive candidates that would invoke \u201csystemic change to end oppressive policing, incarceration, and injustice in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Payments made to the breeder were labeled as \u201ccontractor services.\u201d However, The Washington Free Beacon\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/pet-project-blm-activist-shaun-king-used-donor-funds-to-buy-40k-thoroughbred-show-dog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reports<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0King welcomed Marz, a brown and black-spotted mastiff, as \u201ca new member of the King family\u201d on his social media days after he finalized the purchase in February.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The announcement said Marz would provide \u201calertness and protection\u201d for his family.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But according to\u00a0<span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/01\/activist-shaun-kings-pac-paid-over-40k-for-guard-dog-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">New York Post<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, King returned the dog to the breeder and has since deleted the post or made it private.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Potrero\u2019s Instagram page showed a picture of Marz at an American Kennel Club winning \u201cBest in Show,\u201d adding, \u201che\u2019s got a little too much energy to be a family dog, so he came back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, Potrero\u2019s page has since deleted the post or made it private.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Per the Free Beacon, the Kings\u2019 $40,000 dog cost nearly as much as the contributions made by the committee to political candidates since 2021, which totaled around $56,000.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Scott Walter, the president of Capital Research Center, a think tank investigating left-wing groups, told the Free Beacon that King\u2019s dog expense might not be considered illegal for the PAC.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cBut it shows little respect for King\u2019s donors,\u201d Walter said.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Potrero and Grassroots Law did not respond to the Free Beacon\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>However, King posted a photo on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Cgwuyjdrwrh\/?hl=en\">Instagram<\/a> of himself with his family on Tuesday responding to the allegations, saying he worked hard for their privacy, safety, and security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I need you to know this so that you understand why our family not only needs a guard dog at home, but 24\/7 security wherever we go,\u201d King said.\u2063 \u201cWhite supremacists and people who\u2019ve meant my family harm have now shown up to our last three homes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMultiple times,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>King said that before he defends his reasoning for the way in which he protects his family, he blames the lack of security on the Tri-state area\u2019s restrictive gun laws, news outlets that have allegedly doxxed his home address, and fake police reports from strangers that allege King abused his children. <\/p>\n<p>He also claimed\u2063 he\u2019s received \u2063hundreds of death threats from civilians, police, military snipers, and white supremacist groups.<\/p>\n<p>\u2063\u201cThis is what my life has become,\u201d he said. \u201c\u2063I spend more time each day now thinking about how to keep my family safe than I do doing the actually work I\u2019m called to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2063\u201cSo know this, when you see reports about the money it costs to keep me and my family safe, it\u2019s nowhere near enough,\u201d King added. \u201cNot at all. Not even close.\u201d\u2063<\/p>\n<p>In a separate Instagram <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/shaunking\/?hl=en\">post<\/a>, King explained why his organization paid for Marz and then later decided to return the dog back to the breeder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarz was purchased to roam our property and roam our home and even protect us on the road,\u201d King wrote.<\/p>\n<p>He said Grassroots Law helped purchase Marz because the organization covers all of his security costs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCompared to what 24\/7 human security costs, Marz was affordable,\u201d he added. \u201cWe made sure that the purchase was legal and compliant before making it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, soon after Marz began marking his territory at King\u2019s residence, the family found he was not a perfect fit for them.<\/p>\n<p>King said Marz was brought back to his previous owners months ago.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The latest headline surrounding King\u2019s finances comes after several other fraudulent activities the BLM activist has been accused of in recent years.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Samira Rice, who lost her 12-year-old son Tamir Rice to a police shooting in 2014, accused King of profiting thousands of dollars by exploiting her son\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cPersonally I don\u2019t understand how you sleep at night,\u201d Rice said on her Instagram, according to\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/news\/3145096\/blm-activist-shaun-king-tamir-rices-mom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The U.S. Sun<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cAs a white man acting Black you are a imposter that can not be trusted,\u201d she added. \u201cYou are a selfish self centered person and God will deal with you White man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/philadelphia\/district-attorney-larry-krasner-ethics-campaign-finance-real-justice-pac-shaun-king-20211209.html\">The Philadelphia Inquirer<\/a> reported last December that King\u2019s other political action committee, Real Justice, was ordered to pay $30,000 to the City of Brotherly Love for campaign finance violations during Democrat District Attorney Larry Krasner\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">DeRay Mckesson, a civil rights activist and a former ally of King, has\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@deray\/on-shaun-king-351bd812318c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">accused<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0the BLM activist of fraud dating back to 2014.<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">King denied the allegations and underwent a 2019 financial review by a \u201cteam of experts,\u201d who investigated the $34.5 million he has raised since Black Lives Matter took the stage<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Black Lives Matter (BLM) activist and New York Times best-selling author Shaun King purchased a $40,000 dog from a California breeder using donor money from his political action committee, according to a report.
