Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) has revealed that\u00a0House Republicans are preparing to establish a\u00a0select committee to investigate President Joe Biden\u2019s family if they\u00a0win control of the House in the November 2022 midterms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can tell you all the discussions I\u2019ve had with my colleagues have been positive about a select committee,\u201d\u00a0Gaetz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/08\/01\/exclusive-matt-gaetz-plans-creation-select-committee-probe-biden-family\/\">told<\/a>\u00a0Breitbart News on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker said the\u00a0committee would consist of\u00a0members with expertise in a range of areas, including those from the Foreign Affairs Committee, Financial Services, Oversight Committee, and Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have already been discussions among members about what different committees need to contribute to a select committee to look into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-hunter-biden\">Hunter Biden<\/a>,\u201d Gaetz said, referring to President Biden\u2019s son.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican noted that the Jan.6 committee investigating the breach of the U.S. Capitol had \u201cset a precedent\u201d in creating such a committee and how it can be \u201cpopulated\u201d from a congressional member\u2019s position but noted that this was not about \u201cpolitical payback\u201d and rather to ensure that \u201cwe don\u2019t have a compromised First Family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not suggesting we establish a select committee for political payback, but to look into very legitimate concerns about influence peddling and compromise and leverage that may exist today over the Biden family,\u201d he\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden is currently under federal investigation for\u00a0alleged tax fraud, lobbying crimes, and money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/u-s-attorneys-office-in-delaware-is-investigating-hunter-bidens-taxes_3611688.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed in December 2020<\/a>\u00a0that his business deals were being investigated, saying at the time that he was \u201cconfident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Subpoenas May Be Issued <\/p>\n<p>The U.S. attorney\u2019s office in Delaware is investigating his finances, and the probe dates back to as early as 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz told\u00a0Breitbart on Monday that he\u00a0believes\u00a0some of Hunter Biden\u2019s former partners \u201cmay want to come forward\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
