House Oversight Committee chairwoman Carolyn Maloney scheduled and then <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/04\/democrats-oversight-committee-fossil-fuel-industry-hearing-climate-change\/\">canceled<\/a> a hearing into alleged disinformation promoted by oil companies and its impact on energy prices, while McCarthy has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/06\/09\/mccarthy-climate-censorship-energy-environment\/\">demanded<\/a> that major tech companies \u201cstop allowing specific individuals \u2026 to spread disinformation.\u201d Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/16\/facebook-climate-misinformation-climate-change\/\">announced<\/a> in September 2021 that it would fund a new fact check program targeting \u201cclimate misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span id=\"page3R_mcid14\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">T<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">he Administration\u2019s climate team is <span id=\"page24R_mcid0\" class=\"markedContent\">deflecting and discrediting legitimate criticism and disagreement over its failed policies by blaming disinformation on social media,\u201d the Republicans, led by New Mexico Rep. Gas prices have <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">increased<\/a> $1.80 since Biden took office in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rpc.senate.gov\/policy-papers\/gas-prices-up-100-under-biden\">January 2021<\/a>. While the president and his allies have blamed Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine and price-gouging for the spike, Republicans and energy companies have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/03\/27\/joe-biden-gasoline-prices-oil-natural-gas-russia-ukraine\/\">cited<\/a> Biden\u2019s canceling of the Keystone XL pipeline and gas lease auctions for increases.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden continues to flirt with censorship, surveillance, and suppression of free speech because he knows the American people have rejected his socialist \u2018Green New Deal\u2019 scheme, and silencing critics is the only way the Left can push through its anti-American energy agenda. The public deserves to know who in the White House is discussing these illegal and totalitarian plans to eliminate dissent,\u201d Herrell, the Oversight Subcommittee on the Environment\u2019s ranking member, told the Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<p>Biden and his team have pinned various policy problems and disagreements on disinformation, from COVID-19 to the Biden family\u2019s business dealings. Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci has accused Republicans like Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul of <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/11\/rand-paul-anthony-fauci-lab-leak-theory-covid-19-coronavirus\/\">\u201cdistorting\u201d<\/a> facts about gain-of-function research and the COVID-19 lab leak theory.
