And we have agreements,\u201d Manchin said.<\/p>\n<p>The congressman further shifted his focus to inflation, the matter that he said is currently upsetting people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about today\u2019s inflation rates killing people. We have got to get the inflation rate down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, Manchin emphasized an \u201cenergy policy that works for America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In comments to Tapper, he further said, \u201cWe are not going to raise taxes but people should be paying their fair share, especially the largest corporations in America that have a billion dollars of value or greater. Can\u2019t they pay at least 15 percent so that we can move forward and be the leader of the world and the superpower that we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Backing Tax Hike Bill <\/p>\n<p>His statement seems to be at odds with the \u201cInflation Reduction Act of 2022,\u201d that he recently<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/manchin-says-deal-reached-with-democrats-on-new-version-of-bbb-bill-over-energy-taxes-health-care_4626911.html\"> signed<\/a> off on.<\/p>\n<p>The senator announced on July 27 that he has reached a deal with Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on energy, taxes, and health care to advance what appears to be a revised, alternate version to the Build Back Better bill.<\/p>\n<p>The measure seeks to generate an<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
