Louie Gohmert sent a letter Monday to President Joe Biden calling on him to end the vaccine mandate for foreign travelers into the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, first obtained by the Daily Caller, mentions the professional tennis player Novak Djokovic, who is from Serbia, and how he might not be able to play in the 2022 U.S. Open due to the Biden administration\u2019s COVID-19 vaccine mandate on foreign travelers. The lawmakers argue that the vaccine mandate is anti-science, anti-American and that it is unnecessary.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Djokovic <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/15\/novak-djokovic-covid-vaccine-give-up-trophies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a> he would rather never win another tennis trophy or play in another tournament than get the COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNovak Djokovic overcame war and threats of starvation to become one of the world\u2019s top tennis players, if not the top player. Yet, now it appears he may not be able to overcome the Biden Administration\u2019s cold, heartless, malevolent, scientifically oblivious mentality in order to compete in the 2022 U.S. Open,\u201d Gohmert told the Daily Caller before sending the letter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe current vaccine mandate for foreign travelers to the United States is not only anti-science, it\u2019s anti-American. At this point in time, it is ludicrous that anyone, anywhere, would currently be mandated to take this Emergency Use Authorized COVID vaccine from which the odds of personal harm increase as the manufacturer\u2019s liability for harm or death are prevented. Mary Miller, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman, Texas Rep. Randy Weber, Florida Rep. Brian Mast, Missouri Rep. Billy Long and Arizona Rep. Gaetz)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A number of House Republicans have introduced legislation to put an end to vaccine and mask mandates. In late September, a group of House Republicans\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/09\/24\/andy-biggs-bill-prohibits-federal-vaccine-mandates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">introduced<\/a> a bill that would prohibit federal agencies from implementing vaccine mandates.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Caller contacted The White House about the letter, to which they did not immediately respond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Texas Rep.
