Wade June 24, ending the precedent which had banned states from restricting abortion throughout the first six months of pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>The bans in these three states will take effect 30 days after the Supreme Court officially transmitted its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Association July 26, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/3580179-three-trigger-ban-states-move-closer-to-restricting-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to The Hill. Another 10 states had trigger bans go into effect after elected officials enacted them, and trigger abortion bans went into effect immediately after the court overturned Roe in three other states.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than going into effect immediately after the court\u2019s June ruling, the abortion bans were triggered by the court\u2019s official transmission of its ruling Tuesday and will go into effect 30 days after that.<\/p>\n<p>Idaho\u2019s trigger law <a href=\"https:\/\/legislature.idaho.gov\/statutesrules\/idstat\/title18\/t18ch6\/sect18-622\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bans<\/a> abortion except in the cases of rape, incest and to protect the life of the mother. Planned Parenthood is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/newsroom\/press-releases\/planned-parenthood-files-lawsuit-in-idaho-to-block-total-trigger-abortion-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">suing<\/a> the state over the ban, which it claims violates the state\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Idaho\u2019s trigger law -which I signed in 2020- bans all abortion in the State of Idaho with few exceptions. SCOTUS just issued its official judgment overturning Roe v. Wade and returning the issue of abortion to the states to regulate.<\/p>\n<p>The law officially takes effect August 25.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brad Little (@GovernorLittle) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovernorLittle\/status\/1552067471846232066?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 26, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The lawsuit alleges that the law is too vague and risks confusing doctors about what procedures they\u2019re allowed to perform while also violating the state constitution\u2019s protections of privacy and equal protection under the law.<\/p>\n<p>Texas\u2019 trigger law <a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/tlodocs\/87R\/billtext\/html\/HB01280I.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bans<\/a> most abortions and levies criminal charges against those who perform abortions. Before this trigger law could go into effect, a court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2022\/07\/02\/texas-abortion-1925-ban-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">allowed<\/a> the state to enforce its 1925 abortion ban following a lawsuit from abortion rights groups.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee\u2019s trigger law, called the \u201cHuman Life Protection Act,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capitol.tn.gov\/Bills\/111\/Bill\/SB1257.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bans<\/a> abortions except to protect the life of the mother or to prevent serious injury.
