Advertising relies on twisting the truth, even deceiving people, to persuade them to buy a product they may not need. Trust is maintained by telling the truth, giving others accurate information and sound advice. If inclined, you can change direction, trading on trust that you have built in order to deceive more effectively.<\/p>\n<p>This works until the audience starts to understand that you have started lying. It is the worst sort of deceit. The World Health Organization (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-who\">WHO<\/a>) has adopted this latter course, using its former status to deceive the public in order to increase global uptake of Covid-19 vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>Last week the WHO\u2019s media office issued a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/22-07-2022-who-releases-global-covid-19-vaccination-strategy-update-to-reach-unprotected\">press release<\/a>\u00a0summarizing an update to its global Covid-19\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/publications\/m\/item\/global-covid-19-vaccination-strategy-in-a-changing-world--july-2022-update\">vaccination strategy<\/a>. This strategy requires the highest annual budget of any single program in the WHO\u2019s history; $10.1 billion was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/publications\/m\/item\/act-accelerator-strategic-review\">budgeted<\/a>\u00a0for 2021, about three times the previous total annual\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/about\/accountability\/budget\/\">expenditure<\/a>\u00a0of the entire organization.<\/p>\n<p>With $3 billion accrued, the WHO is seeking the shortfall and wants to expand this through 2022. This bill is mainly footed by taxpayers in the ailing economies of the West. Covid-19 remains a minor health burden in the countries on the receiving end, while malnutrition and other infectious diseases are rising. The strategy is therefore important to both sides, as it will harm both.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-the-fallacy-of-need\">The Fallacy of Need<\/h2>\n<p>The strategy outlined in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/22-07-2022-who-releases-global-covid-19-vaccination-strategy-update-to-reach-unprotected\">press release<\/a>\u00a0calls for vaccination of 70% of people in low and middle income countries, \u201cto achieve durable, broadly protective immunity.\u201d This only makes sense if the populations on the receiving end are not already immune. To claim this, WHO must ignore its own work showing high rates of post-infection immunity in low-income countries.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medrxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2022.02.14.22270934v1.full\">study<\/a>\u00a0by WHO personnel estimated a large majority of Africans had antibodies against Covid-19 by September 2021, which means actual immunity, mediated mainly by T-cells, will be much higher. This study was performed before the highly transmissible Omicron variant added to this number.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/india\/india-govt-survey-shows-two-thirds-have-coronavirus-antibodies-2021-07-20\/\">India data<\/a>\u00a0is similar.<\/p>\n<p>Post-infection (\u2018natural\u2019) immunity produces clinical protection to Covid-19 at least as broad and more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medrxiv.org\/content\/10.1101\/2022.07.06.22277306v1\">sustained<\/a>\u00a0than that produced through vaccination (\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3949410\">Ref<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa2114228?query=infectious-disease\">Ref<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/35157002\/\">Ref<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa2119451?query=infectious-disease\">Ref<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/71\/wr\/mm7104e3.htm\">Ref<\/a>\u00a0). The WHO is also aware that vaccination added to natural immunity adds minimal clinical benefit (well demonstrated in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/71\/wr\/mm7104e1.htm\">CDC chart<\/a>\u00a0below). When the WHO states that only \u201c28% of old people and 37% of health workers\u201d in low-income countries have received Covid-19 vaccines, and fewer in the general population, they know that nearly all the unvaccinated also have effective immunity. The WHO wishes to spend this unprecedented budget on mass vaccination of an immune population.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption>Source:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/71\/wr\/mm7104e1.htm\">https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/71\/wr\/mm7104e1.htm<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>False Claims on Impact<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/22-07-2022-who-releases-global-covid-19-vaccination-strategy-update-to-reach-unprotected\">press release<\/a>\u00a0claims that \u201cIn the first year of rollouts, Covid-19 vaccines are estimated to have saved 19.8 million lives.\u201d This number makes no sense. The WHO previously published that only\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/05-05-2022-14.9-million-excess-deaths-were-associated-with-the-covid-19-pandemic-in-2020-and-2021\">14.9 million<\/a>\u00a0excess deaths occurred across 2 years of the Covid-19 outbreak of 2020-2021. These include deaths due to SARS-CoV-2 infection, and those due to lockdowns and other response measures. Covid-19 was endemic across all continents by the end of 2020, in the absence of vaccination. Ignoring its own data, WHO derives its \u201819.8 million saved\u2019 from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brownstone.org\/articles\/more-flaws-in-the-vaccine-model-claiming-20-million-lives-saved\/\">flawed<\/a>\u00a0Imperial College London modeling.<\/p>\n<p>Lockdowns killed hundreds of thousands, probably millions of people. UNICEF estimated nearly a quarter million excess child deaths due to lockdown (not Covid-19) across just 6\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/rosa\/media\/13066\/file\/Main%2520Report.pdf\">South Asian countries<\/a>\u00a0in 2020 alone. To start to understand how many people Covid-19 really killed pre-vaccination, these excess non-Covid-19 deaths within the 14.9 million must be extrapolated to Africa, and include rising deaths from diseases such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/teams\/global-malaria-programme\/reports\/world-malaria-report-2021\">malaria<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/14-10-2021-tuberculosis-deaths-rise-for-the-first-time-in-more-than-a-decade-due-to-the-covid-19-pandemic\">tuberculosis<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/press-releases\/world-virtual-tinderbox-catastrophic-levels-severe-malnutrition-children\">malnutrition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many pre-vaccination deaths were therefore likely related to the response, not the disease. The WHO wants us to believe that the vaccine saved several-fold more lives in 2021 than could possibly have died from Covid-19 when immunity was at its lowest throughout 2020. It constitutes deliberate misrepresentation of the program\u2019s potential impact. It is an attempt to mislead public health authorities, the public, and the media. The WHO should explain why.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A Baseless Strategy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cVaccinating all those most at risk is the single best way to save lives, protect health systems and keep societies and economies open.\u201d The WHO media department\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/22-07-2022-who-releases-global-covid-19-vaccination-strategy-update-to-reach-unprotected\">states<\/a>\u00a0this as the basis for mass vaccination, whilst admitting that Covid-19 vaccines \u201chave not substantially reduced transmission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, countries with the current highest transmission rates, such as New Zealand, are among the most vaccinated. If a vaccine does not reduce transmission, and severe Covid-19 is concentrated in a small segment of the sick and elderly (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/downloads\/covid-data\/hospitalization-death-by-age.pdf\">it is<\/a>), then mass vaccination of already-immune people cannot have an influence on \u2018keeping society open.\u2019 This is achieved by not closing it.<\/p>\n<p>In its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/publications\/m\/item\/global-covid-19-vaccination-strategy-in-a-changing-world--july-2022-update\">strategy update<\/a>, WHO justifies its entire mass vaccination program through its ability \u201c\u2026to achieve durable, broadly protective immunity, and reduce transmission.\u201d\u00a0 By its own data, lasting durable protective immunity is already present, and the product it is pushing does not stop transmission.\u00a0 This resembles false advertising of a commodity that an advertising agency is paid to promote, rather than a reasoned explanation of a public health strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Significant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pandata.org\/who-and-covid-19-re-establishing-colonialism-in-public-health\/\">WHO funders<\/a>\u00a0will be enriched by this program through the procurement of billions of vaccine doses, so not everyone loses. The target \u2018under-vaccinated\u2019 populations in Africa and Asia record less, not more, deaths from Covid-19. They are younger, less obese, and therefore less susceptible. They die of other\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.unicef.org\/covid-19-and-children\/\">diseases<\/a>, and currently face\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfp.org\/emergencies\/global-food-crisis\">collapsing food supplies<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-04-12\/a-quarter-billion-more-people-face-extreme-poverty-oxfam-says\">growing poverty<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/immersive\/d41586-022-01647-6\/index.html\">\u00a0due in large part<\/a>\u00a0to the lockdown policies that the WHO continues to support. By diverting attention and resources from areas of true health need, the WHO will further increase mortality. Doing this by deceiving the public and ignoring its own data is a poor strategy.<\/p>\n<p>It is time the WHO explained what it is doing. Whilst seeking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brownstone.org\/articles\/a-primer-on-the-who-the-treaty-and-its-plans-for-pandemic-preparedness\/\">greater powers<\/a>\u00a0to declare and manage future disease outbreaks, it is demonstrating that the organization is unfit for that purpose.
