This decline in support is likely due to a perceived mishandling of the economy, a failure to fulfill campaign promises and general political disillusionment, recent polling data shows.<\/p>\n<p>Young voters almost unanimously do not want Biden to run again in 2024, with 94% of voters age 18-29 hoping that someone else is at the top of the Democratic ticket, according to one New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/07\/11\/us\/politics\/biden-approval-polling-2024.html\">poll<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">How badly are Democrats bombing with young voters right now?<\/p>\n<p>New Quinnipiac poll says Ds lead Rs in the general congressional vote by just 7 points among Americans under 35. Last week\u2019s YouGov\/The Economist <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/k4maehoie4\/econTabReport.pdf\">survey<\/a> showed that just 34% of Americans aged 18 to 29 approved of the way Biden was handling jobs and the economy, less than the 37% of voters overall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike the rest of Americans, young voters are also suffering the inflationary consequences of the Biden administration\u2019s policies,\u201d Heritage Action Executive Director Jessica Anderson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. \u201cAside from gas and groceries, young Americans are increasingly worried about how they are going to take their next steps into adulthood by buying a home, and some are worried about future job prospects if we head into a recession.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Younger voters have also been let down by Biden\u2019s inability to fulfill various campaign promises. Harvard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/o0enme1afskt2yx\/2022_Spring_Harvard_IOP_Youth_Poll_Banners.xlsx?dl=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spring 2022 poll<\/a> of 18- to 29-year-olds found that of those that did not approve of Biden\u2019s performance, the second largest reason behind \u201cineffectiveness\u201d \u2014 which encompasses poor stewardship of the economy \u2014 was \u201cnot following through on campaign promises.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden has made a lot of empty promises and the only policies he and Congress have been able to deliver on have made America weaker at home and abroad,\u201d Anderson told the DCNF. \u201cThis administration has taken away key economic opportunities for Americans and fostered a woke and divisive culture that empowers groupthink. It is unsurprising that these tactics are driving younger voters away from their party and candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Biden\u2019s as-yet unfulfilled promise to forgive some student loan debt is a priority for many younger voters, Dakota Hall, executive director for the Alliance for Youth Action, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/23042037\/joe-biden-young-voters-disapprove-progressive-gen-z\">told<\/a> Vox.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration has <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/05\/27\/student-debt-forgiveness-joe-biden-loans-inflation\/\">been considering<\/a> forgiving student loan debt, which <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomCottonAR\/status\/1531798068311560193?s=20&#038;t=HoFc-pJ6lkenIJ5WTOv7qQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some speculate<\/a> might be a ploy to win back support in this younger demographic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden thinks he can just buy off younger voters with student loan forgiveness, but he will only be making inflation worse and young voters will see through this election-year gimmick and pay more in the long run,\u201d Anderson told the DCNF.<\/p>\n<p>American youth are also increasingly disillusioned with politics in general.
