The report claimed that the affair led to Brin divorcing Shanahan and ended the longtime friendship between the two men.<\/p>\n<p>The report claimed that Musk \u201cdropped to one knee in front of Brin and apologized profusely for the transgression\u201d during a party earlier this year and was \u201cbegging for forgiveness.\u201d The report said that Brin acknowledged the apology, but he is not speaking with Musk, and he has ordered his team to sell his personal investments in Musk\u2019s companies.<\/p>\n<p>A lawyer for Shanahan said that the allegations that the two had an affair were completely false.<\/p>\n<p>Musk responded by saying that Shanahan should sue The Wall Street Journal because she is not a public figure, therefore she would have an easier time winning in court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a \u2018public person,\u2019 standard to win a defamation lawsuit against a news org is almost impossible,\u201d Musk\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1552300589693927425\">tweeted<\/a>. \u201cThey could say I\u2019m Satan and the \u2018source\u2019 is their psychic! Nicole is not a public person, so could win. I hope she sues them. @michaelsiconolf has done so many fake hit pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal issued two statements about Siconolfi\u2019s report. A day after the report was published, the newspaper said,\u00a0\u201cWe are confident in our sourcing, and we stand by our reporting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecent attacks on Michael Siconolfi are unwarranted and unfounded,\u201d the newspaper later added after Musk called out the reporter by name online.\u00a0\u201cMike is a celebrated and widely respected editor and reporter in our industry. He has overseen a wide array of impactful stories with integrity and high standards for The Wall Street Journal over many decades. For the record, Mike was not part of the editing team for this story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk\u2019s personal life has come under fire this year after a female flight attendant at one of his companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/woman-makes-sexual-misconduct-claim-against-elon-musk\">accused<\/a> him of exposing himself to her, which he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-responds-to-sexual-misconduct-allegations-from-flight-attendant-issues-a-challenge-to-her\">denies<\/a>; his alleged <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/musk-fathered-twins-with-top-executive-just-weeks-before-having-child-with-another-woman\">fathering<\/a> of two children with an executive at his company Neuralink; his dad <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musks-father-has-second-child-with-his-stepsister-report\">fathering<\/a> a second child with his stepsister; and one of his children publicly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musks-trans-son-files-to-change-name-disses-dad\">disowning<\/a> him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Wall Street Journal issued two statements this week defending a reporter who wrote a report alleging that Elon Musk had an affair with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
